EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND

2012-2018 Clinical Assistant Professor, Hearing and Speech Sciences, University of Maryland, College Park

-Responsible for clinical instruction of graduate and undergraduate students in speech-language pathology practicum. Includes oversight of diagnostic and therapeutic sessions, individualized one-on-one and small group student instruction, and editing of clinical reports.

2007 to 2013 Senior Speech-Language Pathologist, Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland, Rockville -Evaluated and treated inpatient and outpatient adults with aphasia, dysphagia, dysarthria, dysphonia and cognitive deficits due to stroke, TBI, brain tumors, and degenerative diseases

-Mentored new clinicians and supervised Clinical Fellows in speech-language pathology

-Provided clinical training and supervision for graduate speech pathology students

-Coordinated with universities to place SLP students in practicum

-Coordinated multidisciplinary therapy department graduate student training program

2003-2006 Speech-Language Pathologist, Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, Pennsylvania

-Evaluated and treated acute rehab patients with aphasia, dysphagia, cognitive linguistic deficits, dysarthria, dysphonia secondary to stroke, brain tumors, TBI, neurosurgery, intubation, or cardiac surgery, as well as patients with tracheostomies and speaking valves

-Evaluated and treated pediatric and adult outpatients with developmental and neurogenic speech and language impairments, dysphagia, and voice disorders

-Coordinated the interdisciplinary Swallowing Impairment Precautions Program (SIPP) team which included training nursing and other hospital staff in swallowing precautions and interventions, implementation of the facilitative dining program, and ongoing assessment of patient’s fluid intake and hydration/nutrition status

-Evaluated and treated inpatient adults with acquired aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia and cognitive/linguistic deficits at all levels of care from Medical/Surgical to Intensive Care

-Conducted Modified Barium Swallow studies in Radiology to assess swallowing function

-Evaluated and treated outpatients with Parkinson's disease using the LSVT program
