This is the first Alex Rider book I have ever read, even though it is the 9th book in the series. For me, action is my favorite genre because it has your pulse quicken in anticipation, or has you almost pass out in suspense. The story starts when the Jowada Nuclear Power Plant in Chennai is infiltrated by a man with instructions to destroy it. In a different part of the world, Alex is going to a New Year's party in Scotland. If you want to find out what happens, you should read the book.190500Cosmic by Frank Cottrell BoyceGenre: OtherRating: 5 starsReview Written By Someone in Grade 6 Cosmic was first recommended to me by my 5th grade teacher. It is mainly about a girl, her father who is in danger from a man called Capricorn, and his henchmen. I won't tell you why, in case you decide to read the book. This is the first book in a three book series, and I am planning to read the following books soon. I would always recommend this book to all my family and friends.19050-45720The Great Fire by Jim MurphyGenre: NonfictionRating: 3 starsReview Written By Someone in Grade 6 I think The Great Fire was a good book, but not all that interesting. I already had some ideas about what The Great Fire of Chicago was like. Reading this book almost doubled my fact count. For example, The Great Fire possibly started when Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicked over a lamp in the O'Leary's barn. The fire then proceeded to destroy: 17,500 buildings, and 73 miles of street, killing an estimated 300 people, and leaving 100,000 homeless.19050319405Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul CurtisGenre: Historical FictionRating: 3 starsReview Written By Someone in Grade 6Bud is a boy who is trying to find his father. I liked the idea behind the story because I found it very unique and unlike anything else I've read. It is mostly about a girl named Amanda and a boy named Leo. They always have their birthday party together because they were born on the exact same day. Amanda hears Leo saying mean things about her behind her back, and decides not to be friends with him anymore, or to have their birthday party together. When they don't have their parties together, something strange happens that they have to fix together. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone because it is a good, enjoyable book.19050323850Finally by Wendy MassGenre: Realistic FictionRating: 4 starsReview Written By Someone in Grade 6 I really enjoyed this book because of it is suspense and interesting plot. It takes place in the same town as 11 Birthdays, also by the same author. I like how this book connects really well with 11 Birthdays, but still have a completely different plot and overall story. The main character in this book is a 12 year old girl named Rory Swenson. She is so excited about turning 12 because she can finally, walk to school, get a cell phone, wear makeup, and go to the mall with her friends only! She soon finds out that turning twelve really isn't the best thing in the whole world. I like this book because I feel like it's a story that a lot of people can relate to. Like 11 Birthdays, this book is short and very enjoyable to read.190500The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale Genre: Fantasy Rating: 5 stars Review Written By Someone in Grade 6 This is by far one of my favorite books! It is mostly about a 12 year old girl named Miri. She and all the other girls in her community between the ages of 12 and 18 are forced to go away from home to attend a princess academy, in order to prepare them to meet the prince, and possibly become the princess. Unfortunately, the girls have a very mean, strict and harsh teacher. The girls think she's being very unfair and decide to run back to their village. While they're at home, Miri realizes how much she cares for a boy in her village named Peder. Peder was her long time best friend and she realized now, her new feelings for him. In the end everything is good and her best friend ends up with the person she always loved. I love this book mainly for its heartwarming story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy and suspenseful books.19050152400Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie S. TolanGenre: Realistic FictionRating: 5 starsReview Written By Someone in Grade 6 This book is about a 13 year old boy named Jake Semple. He was always the bad kid, he got kicked out of every school he went to within about 3 months and his parents were in jail. No family would take him except one strange family called the Applewhites. He thinks he'll be out of their family within a few weeks but little does he know the impact the Applewhites would have on his life. While he's with the Applewhites, he really finds who he is and learns what he loves and his passion. I would highly recommend this book to anyone because it is a short easy read and it really is a great book! ................
