60's & 70's Event Ideas

60's & 70's Event Ideas

The first things that come to mind for me are peace symbols, crepe paper flowers, and leather hair holders.

Peace symbols made of anything would probably be popular in this day and age, anyway.....I would think that something the girls could wear as jewelry would be good.  Perhaps peace symbols out of beads of some sort?

Crepe paper flowers because there were a lot of "flower children" in the 60's.  Besides, I remember making these as a girl in the 60's.  Don't have a good idea for directions, just had the idea.  I remember making a variety of kinds of flowers by wrapping, cutting, stretching crepe paper to make flowers.  I wouldn't be surprised if my mom still has a couple somewhere.

Girls used to wear leather wraps on their pony tails or braids at that time, I recall.  Leathercrafting with leather tools can be fun for any age and the final project can be simple or very complicated (good for older girls that way as well).  Girls could take small pieces of leather and put holes in them, "tool" them (if you have the leathercrafting dies to make

designs) and collect a small stick and sand it a bit, and then they'd have something to

hold their hair back.
