Part One:

Directions: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) maintains a database for all countries in which you can obtain a profile of the basic indicators of the life chances of an average child. Go to UNICEF link on the task page. Select three countries to compare. One should be in Africa, one in Europe, and the United States. Compare the three in the following categories:

1) Adult literacy for females

2) Calculate the ratio of male adult literacy to female adult literacy

3) Child marriages in rural areas

4) Percent of the population living on less than $1 per day and

5) One more variable that grabs your attention
