COLONEL ERIC WALKER CHIEF OF OPERATIONS GROUP JULIET
COL Eric L. Walker graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1993 and was commissioned as an Engineer officer. During his first duty assignment with the 52d Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado, he served as a heavy construction platoon leader in support of Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti and as an engineer staff officer in support of Operation Joint Endeavor in Sarajevo. Following completion of the US Army Engineer Advanced Course and the Special Forces Qualification Course, he was assigned to 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, Washington, in 2000 and subsequently served in Thailand, South Korea, and the Philippines supporting multiple missions and operations.
Starting in 2004, COL Walker served for two years in Special Operations Command Pacific in Hawaii as an operations staff officer. After subsequent attendance at the Command and General Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he was assigned to 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Okinawa, Japan, as a company commander and the battalion operations officer for a total of two years. A majority of these two years were spent in the Philippines supporting Operation Enduring Freedom ? Philippines.
After his tour in Okinawa, COL Walker attended the Advanced Military Studies Program as part of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Next, he served a one year assignment as the Deputy Commander of the Joint Special Operations Task Force supporting Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines.
Following his time in the Philippines, COL Walker spent a year back at Fort Leavenworth as the Special Operations advisor to the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) before assuming command of the Headquarters Battalion for the 2d Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea. After two years in South Korea, COL Walker was reassigned to Fort Leavenworth as the Director for Special Operations within the Combined Arms Center (CAC). After just one year, he was assigned abroad to attend war college at the National Defense University in Islamabad, Pakistan. Currently, COL Walker is serving as the Chief of Operations Group Juliet within the Mission Command Training Program.
COL Walker's military schools include: Ranger School, Command and General Staff College, Advanced Military Studies Program, Airborne School, Jumpmaster, Special Forces Combat Diver Qualification Course, and the Combat Diving Supervisor Course. His civilian education includes: a Masters in Adult Education from Kansas State University, a Masters in Military Arts and Science from Fort Leavenworth, and a Masters in Military Science from Pakistan National Defense University. Awards and decorations include: the Expert Infantryman Badge, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Thai Airborne Badge, and the Korean Airborne Badge.
