The college is proud of its long tradition of educating students who aspire to advance themselves in a technical career.?We provide our students with hands-on technical and professional skills that will create a foundation for success, civic responsibility and life-long learning, adhering to the principles put forth by our benefactor, Benjamin Franklin.Position Overview: Title:InstructorDepartment:Electrical Engineering and Engineering TechnologyReports To:Director of Electrical Engineering and Engineering TechnologyStatus: Full-TimeStart Date: September 1, 2021Faculty at BFIT embrace the opportunity to support a diverse group of young people in meeting a range of academic and other challenges to prepare students for successful and rewarding careers in technological fields.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical classroom and lab instruction to all students in the Advanced Manufacturing programs.Teach up to eighteen (18) contact hours weekly in assigned day, evening, or weekend courses.Provide weekly office hours for student advising, assessment activity, and out-of-class support.Practice and maintain all safety requirements to ensure student safety and to adhere to all OSHA safety requirements, practices and procedures as required.Prepare classrooms, labs and equipment to support the instruction and use of equipment.Ensure classrooms, labs and equipment remain in good working order.Actively prepare students for both academic and Career Tech credentialing examsConduct regular evaluation of student's progress; Maintain accurate performance and attendance records and submit required reports on or before the deadlines.Assist students with study problems and with evaluating their potential for successful achievement in the course or discipline.Actively participate in divisional, college committee and related activities.Knowledge and understanding of college policies and procedures.Assist the Chair with recommendations for hardware/software purchases, instructional scheduling, use of facilities and other related contractual items.Ability to communicate and work with students, business and industry, faculty, staff and the general public.Perform other similar duties as required.Participation in student recruitment and articulation, developing and revising curriculum; assessment of program learning outcomes.Required Credentials and Experience include:Experience with various forms and applications of rapid prototypingKnowledge of and certification on related CAD technology such as SolidWorks and Fusion 360Two years of teaching CAD related courses in the advanced manufacturing automation industry dealing specifically with the manufacturing or building of mechanical components.Familiarity with the use of digital tools such as vinyl cutters, laser cutters, and 3D printersWorking experience with CNC AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, and 3D printing technologies is preferred.In depth working knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical systems, demonstrated aptitude for teaching and training.Ability to teach alternative delivery modalities including flipped classes, cohort and hybrid course content. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning and service to diverse student populations.A passion for teaching and demonstrated ability to individualize instruction and work with students having a variety of needs and abilities in a team environmentAbility to use Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Canvas etc.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Excellent planning, organizational, and problem solving skillsExcellent communication skills.Preferred qualifications include:Master's degree in Machining Technology/Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred or Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering Technology, Machining Technology or related field or work experience or work experience in manufacturing Experience teaching or mentoring in a college, technical, or vocational environment;Experience working with students from diverse academic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds;A demeanor of patience, with an ability to remain calm and open-minded;Proficiency in assessment and continuous improvement.Type of Appointment:Ful-time appointment beginning on September 1st, 2021.
