Position Title:  Manufacturing Applications Engineer III

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director, Advanced Manufacturing Center, the Manufacturing Applications Engineer III is responsible for CAM programming, operating 5-axis machining centers and fixture design. Must be familiar with machining aerospace materials. Must have a strong desire to learn new skills and stay on the cutting edge of manufacturing technology. The following experience is a plus to have: metal additive manufacturing, programming and operating robots, carbon fiber composite machining, and tool and die making.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Design and NC program in CAD/CAM packages, with at least a basic knowledge of Siemens NX

• Operate 3-axis machining centers (willing to learn 5-axis) and machine aerospace components

• Design fixtures and other components

• Become familiar with metal additive technologies, with a willingness to progress to expert level

• Become familiar with programming and operating robots

• Performs a wide variety of complex tasks with minimal supervision

• Handles multiple projects

• May be responsible for representing initiative at functions

Job Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Graduate Degree preferred. Position-related experience may offset degree requirements.

• Experience: 10+ years’ experience in related field. Significant skill set and experience in manufacturing.

• Skills: Strong CAD/CAM skills, with at least an introduction to Siemens NX. Very strong machining background. Strong desire to learn new skills. Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills. Presentation and organizational skills a plus.

• Citizenship must meet export control regulations.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Continually operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with individuals.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasionally moves equipment/materials of various weights for business and event needs. Occasionally travels to business-related sites with varying work conditions. Requires the ability to view and read computer screens and printed material.

Works in a lab/manufacturing environment and must maintain proper safety protocols. Work environment can be moderate to loud.
