EMPLOYMENT AND EXPERIENCE RECORD

2010 – Present Retired and bored to death.

2009 – 2010 Express Employment Professionals - Knoxville, TN (865) 531-1720

Contract Vibration Analyst, Trainer and Mentor to Reliability Operations

Emerson Process Management (CSI)

Knoxville, TN

Emerson subcontracted me to:

Graphic Packaging International (A Paper Company)

West Monroe, LA

My assignment at GPI was to bring all vibration personnel up one level in ISO vibration certification and vibration competency; to mentor them in data collection and analysis; and to correct errors in the database setup.

All tested personnel passed their ISO certification tests.

I introduced to and trained all personnel in phase analysis and precision balancing.

By implementing many of my suggested changes, one vibe tech reduced his collection time by half and the overall department’s collection time was improved by more than 20%.

The customer was so pleased with my performance and positive results that my contract was extended by two months.

The job was successfully completed.

I am currently between assignments.

I developed an expert reputation and was called in and worked on only the most difficult problems. Usually, by the time a customer called me in to work on the problem a lot of other professionals had tried and failed to solve the problem. I believe that my success rate was greater than 90%. I was contracted by OEM’s to find and solve problems in warranty and prototype machines. A small sampling of customers includes:

1989 – 1992 Eastern Electric Apparatus Repair Company, Inc. - Atlanta, GA

Corporate Manager Field Services and Corporate Manager of IT (Information Technology)

Started, hired, and trained a national field service network for Eastern. This included 42 shops throughout the US, including Alaska, involving over 100 employees.

Developed and wrote the training manual and gave seminars and instructed classes to various corporations nationwide. I have probably trained more than a thousand vibration analysts, alignment (both laser and dial indicator) field techs, and precision balancing personnel.

My work also included writing speeches and speaking at public and private seminars and events. Including marketing presentations to many corporate boards, keynote speaker at trade meetings, e.g. International Hydro Power, Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA,) the CSI (Emerson Process Management) expert users’ conferences, state banquets, etc.

Wrote magazine articles (i.e.: Hydro Review, Vibrations, etc.), and training manuals on Vibratory PdM and Analysis, Machinery Alignment, Balancing, and Management of Nondestructive Testing Departments for Managers (basic, intermediate and advanced).

1985 – 1990 Smith Services, Inc.

Princeton, WV, Bluefield, WV, Jacksonville, FL, Sumner, N.C. and Mobile, AL

Corporate Director of Research & Development and

Corporate Director of Training (Sales and Motivational)

Located, researched, evaluated and was pivotal in the decision making regarding the buy-out or startup of other companies in order to diversify its holdings.

Setup the computer production and accounting system. Built all computers and robotics used by the company (Network tower, desk tops, and portables). Designed and wrote the entire remanufacturing and production software package for the motor remanufacturing/rebuild plants. This system tracked all

jobs through the plants, employee time, as well as WIP (Work In Progress) and time and materials. After these programs were written I integrated them into a standard accounting software system. Evaluated setup and installed a complete computer network system that included WAN (Wide Area Network). The WAN architecture allowed the company to link its other locations in other states. Programmed and linked both the production and accounting software.

Computerized and robotized the electric motor load-test centers. Designed the load-test hardware and software to automatically produce customized customer reports by automatic control and reading of the load-test meters, the dynamometer, and RTDs (temperature probes). These load-test centers handled as much as 13,500 volts of electricity so safety and accuracy was of utmost importance.

Added vibration testing capability to each test center. This resulted in greater safety to the operator. Several deaths occurred to operators of the manual systems when a system would fail and 13,500 volts of electricity was shorted through the operator’s panel. The automation of this process via remote computer work station kept the operators safely away from the old operator’s panel. Trained field service personnel, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) personnel, sales personnel, motivational speaking and programs. Spearheaded efforts on the concept of a new profit center based on predictive vibration analysis and field services including NDT (Non Destructive Testing).

Established the ETS (Engineering and Technical Services) division. Promoted, hired and trained most of the personnel in the department. Demonstrated and sold vibration analysis and field services to customers and taught vibration analysis seminars.

Conceived and initiated GED studies for all interested employees and their immediate families. The business received an education award from the Governor of West Virginia, and educational grants to off-set the cost of the program. I represented the company and was the guest speaker at educational/academic government and private banquets and meetings four or five times a year.

Initiated College and University SAT studies for all interested employees and their immediate families. Many of the employee’s children, spouses and the employees themselves used these programs to gain entrance to several colleges and universities.

Worked with Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia helping set up “The Software Valley”. This is a corridor running North and South along I-77 through WV. This program was designed and implemented to attract high technology firms and qualified individuals to the state.

Managed human resources and co-authored the company’s Employee's Handbook and the quality control manual.

Duties included relief flying the corporate aircraft on the primary pilot’s days off or when more than one aircraft was required.

1980 – 1985 Front Street Station - Malta, OH

Purchased and revitalized this night club in order to help pay for college. After hiring and training managers I was then able to split my attention between college and running the night club. Owned video games, pin-ball machines, cigarette, cola vending, pool tables, juke boxes, and various units. Served a five county region of southeastern Ohio. I sold the business and its accounts to a much larger vending company for a profit.

1983 – 1984 Ohio University - Athens, OH

Part-time position teaching continuing education classes

Worked with the continuing education department to develop and teach night and weekend classes for personal computers. At that time, mainframe computers dominated the university teaching curriculum and there were no available professors who understood the concept of personal computers and there were no “personal computer” classes. Many of the universities computer science professors took some of my courses to become familiar with these computers.

Classes Taught:

Sold corporate aircraft with prices ranging from $50,000.00 for light single engine airplanes to more than $2,000,000.00 for corporate jets. Consistently the top performer in sales and was awarded the Beech Aircraft Corporation's Professional Salesman of the Year Award in 1979.

Contacted, presented and sold aircraft to many celebrities, state governors, college and university presidents, corporate CEOs – Boards – and Presidents.

In late 1976, because of my success, the company decided to start moving me to their locations that were doing poorly in an effort to improve the locations performance and morale. These missions were always successful.

1972 – 1976 Bill Woods Beechcraft, Inc. - Birmingham, AL

Corporate Aircraft Salesman

Chief Pilot of Flight Operations

Flight Training Chief Pilot

Began as a part-time fight instructor. Within eight months was promoted to Chief Flight Instructor. Managed a department of eight full-time and three part-time flight instructors with a total student load of one hundred and thirty. I taught pilot ground schools at the company and hosted a local TV show called “Planes & Props.”

When promoted to Flight Training Manager, the department was loosing more than $14,000.00 a year and it had never made a profit in the more than eighteen years it had been in operation. In less than one year I turned the department around and was generating a small profit of more than $8,000.00 per year.

I was promoted to Chief Pilot of all flight operations and continued to increase the company's revenues and margins in flight training, air taxi, and air leasing. Within two years, I had evaluated and negotiated the buyout of our competitors.

Later, I was promoted into aircraft sales. My sales record was within the top 2 in the company. Hangar One, Inc. purchased the company and invited me to join them.
