You are expected to possess a strong work ethic and must perform at the college level. The teacher will be available for any help you need, but the burden of the work is on your shoulders. Chronic absenteeism or tardiness will not be tolerated. You must read and think critically in order to be successful. Psychology, 7th edition (textbook)Supplies:2 Inch Binder Spiral Notebook for VocabularyNotebook paper10 Dividers AP Psychology Flashcards or an AP Psychology Review Book (can be found on )Absences –When a student is absent it is the student’s responsibility to make up the missed work. All tests and quizzes must be made up within 1 week of the absence, if not the grade will be a zero. Students are encouraged to email me and set up a time to come in for extra help or during Study Hall. If you are absent on a test day you need to email me ASAP to schedule a makeup date. If you are present for all tests and vocabulary quizzes during the quarter, I will award you with 5 extra credit points on your lowest test grade.Buddy # 1 name and number __________________________________________________Buddy # 2 name and number__________________________________________________Extra Help-If you need extra help please email me to set up a time or come by my trailer after 8:30. The National Honor Society also offers FREE tutoring. Many of these tutors have just completed the course and are an excellent resource.Passes out of class:If you have to use the bathroom ask quietly and politely and make sure you have a bathroom pass. You may NOT leave the room without a pass. Do not abuse the passes out of the class or you will lose that privilege. Please refrain from using the restroom in the first and last 10 minutes of class. Cell phones may not be used during class in the hallway. Any student late to class will not be allowed to use a pass for the duration of class.Grading Scale:Assessment:98-100: A+ 77-79: C+Tests = 50% 93-97: A73-76: CQuizzes= 15%90-92: A-70-72:C –Writing/Essays/Projects=25%87-89: B+67-69: D+Notebooks and Homework=10%83-86: B63-66: D80-82: B-60-62: D –59 and below: FTests-50%Tests will be between 50-70 multiple choice questions and will have between 2-4 short answer responses. The tests will not be curved, however, there will be extra credit questions on past material on EVERY test. There will also be a review guide for every test.Writing Workshop Essay/Research Papers and projects- 25%AP Style Essays- You will receive a rubric for each individual essay that we write. Each essay is worth anywhere from 8 to 14 points as graded by College Board readers for the AP exam. I will convert these over to a grade out of 100 and you will receive an individual grade sheet for each of these. You will also receive a rubric for general research papers and projects.Quick Writes- Additional smaller writing assignments will also be assigned on a daily basis and will be kept in the Quick Write section of your notebook. These essays will be graded on completion, quality of writing and the use of vocabulary terms. Quizzes- 15%Vocabulary Quizzes-Regular vocabulary quizzes will be given; dates are listed on the syllabus. All of the vocabulary words can be found on your vocabulary sheets, which you will receive at the beginning of each unit. Daily Quizzes- Short quizzes will be given every day to check for understanding.Notebooks/Homework and Class Participation-10%Class Participation- Class Participation will be recorded on a daily basis and will be converted into a participation grade at the end of the quarter. This grade will be based on the number of times the student appropriately participates in class.Homework- An activity to reinforce a learning target from class- you will be asked to apply knowledge. Vocabulary sheets are given out before each unit. You will be expected to fill out the terms according to the homework schedule.
