Aurora Pharmacies Close Deal on Copps Pharmacy Units STEVENS POINT, Wis. (October 15, 2001) -- As previously reported by SN, Milwaukee-based Aurora Pharmacies completed the acquisition of Copps Corp.’s 12 pharmacy locations on Friday, Oct. 5, according to David Busch, corporate vice president of administration for Roundy's, Pewaukee, Wis. The decision to convert the food retailer's pharmacy business to Aurora Pharmacies was ultimately a "win-win" situation for the consumer, said Busch, because the acquisition joins Copps' supermarket knowledge and Aurora Pharmacies' healthcare know-how together. He told SN, "With the aspect of being two entities together, we create for the consumer the ability to profit from both our expertise." Busch declined to comment on specific financial terms, including whether the retailer receives a percentage of Aurora's pharmacy sales. Jeff Squire, director of communications for Aurora Pharmacies, said, "This was an opportunity that came our way - we have expertise in operating pharmacies, and we were pleased they came to us." Aurora now operates 36 pharmacies in stores owned by Roundy's, Squire said. -- Stephanie Loughran.
Aurora Pharmacies Takes Over Copps Pharmacy Units MILWAUKEE (October 2, 2001) -- Aurora Pharmacies here told SN yesterday that it is close to acquiring Copps Corp.'s 12 pharmacy locations. Stevens Point, Wis.-based Copps, a 21-unit chain acquired earlier this year by Roundy's, Pewaukee, Wis., expects to complete the transaction with Aurora and convert its 12 pharmacy locations by the end of the week, according to Jim Krahn, marketing and communications coordinator for Aurora. He declined to discuss the terms of the acquisition. Aurora Pharmacies, which operates 105 pharmacies — both freestanding and inside Pick 'n Save supermarkets — plans to retain any Copps pharmacy personnel who wish to stay, said Krahn. Officials at Roundy's and Copps were not available for comment. -- Stephanie Loughran.

Session Title: Advantage Gen's COM Proxy in the Real World - Roundy's Success Stories
Speaker: Denzil Wasson
Abstract: A presentation of a success story of web enabling an application at Roundy’s using Advantage Gen COM Proxy. Focus is on concepts surrounding the process within the framework of the Roundy’s experience. When and why we would web enable the application and why would we choose COM Proxy to do it. The architecture of COM Proxy. How much re-use of the backend is achieved and how do you go about achieving it. The skills you require to be successful, some problems that you will face and our solutions to those problems. (Figure 1.9)
Conclusions
Opportunities
Roundy’s systems provide access to customer credit/debit information which could be used to steal small amounts of money from customers.
Information on sales, orders, invoices, central billing data could all give a competitor leverage against Roundy’s.
The XATA wireless software package may give information on what's on a truck and where the truck is. This could be used by organized crime to hijack trucks if food would be considered a saleable black-market item or just steal the truck. XATA may also give access to other systems through a wireless connection that's difficult to trace/
ISD's Message Sentry gives access to customer credit and debit data at the store level which could be an easy mark for card number theft and resale. ISD provides integrated communications software to communicate with a variety of internal and external information services such as bank processors, databases, and stores more effectively. ISD's corporate office and store systems solutions provide an effective way to communicate information between corporate office headquarters and remote store locations.
Roundy's licenses WINPAY24 products WinCheck(tm), WinCollect(tm) and WinCard to provide processing services to its member merchants. With its WINPAY24 platform, Roundy's will have the ability to offer its six merchant members and their fifty stores an integrated processing platform to process transactions involving checks, and credit and debit cards. The system also will help control the cost of check collection by managing returned check data and tracking payments received for outstanding checks. All WINPAY, WINCHECK< WINCARD… products operate on the Microsoft Windows operating system. User interfaces are browser-based and can be accessed using either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator .

Roundy's uses web enabling application Advantage Gen COM Proxy. Web enable an application using COM Proxy. Re-use of the backend is achieved. Attack methods specific to COM Proxy may be available and allow access to order and financial information.
Roundy's has several divisions that have their own servers that may be used as a front door to the divisions systems and to Roundy's corporate systems.
Roundy’s has several sites that are supported by smaller vendors like the Spin Group that could leave them open to attack because vendors typically will provide minimal extra expense in the way of security.
Main DNS servers are run by Time Warner which can be good since their business is networks and they should have a robust security scheme, however if there is a hole in Time Warner security it would allow access to many systems as well as Roundy's.
Roundy’s zone transfer (Figure 7.0) told me the addresses of their applications servers and email servers. Using this information I was able to obtain several application signon screens. This will allow me to use password guessing software to try and gain access.
The Roundy’s web site provided phone numbers for voice and fax as well as email addresses. You can assume that the email addresses would probably tell you what signon addresses would be available. If you can associate signon addresses with names, you can probably guess what kind of passwords would be used, especially for executives.
Roundy's employees use listservs to ask technical questions and also provide much information on what Roundy's uses in the way of hardware and software as well as giving an attacker the name of a network administrator to call vendors with. The Whois function also provides the name of a technical contact that could be used to trick vendors into giving out confidential information.
Roundys also makes available the names of many people within the organization that can be easily used for social engineering.
An SMTP relay check for both janus. and mercury. did not work when using UWM and hotmail email addresses, but did work when using wlang.. Figure 8.0.
Summary of Security Risks
• Smaller vendors like the Spin Group may provide easy access
• Main DNS servers by Time Warner may provide easy access
• Roundy’s zone transfer told me the addresses of their applications servers and email servers.
• Password demons could be used on several application signon screens using email ids as userids
• Dial daemons using bank of phone numbers derived from press releases could find company modems and access inside the firewall
• They run UNIX, and WebSitePro/2.5.8 on NT4/Windows 98 providing popular ways to access internal systems
• Employees use listservs and announce the hardware and software used to the world
• Names of employees and executives readily available for social engineering
• There is potential for SPAM through Roundy's email servers

Feb. 16--A judge's decision isn't expected until March on whether a former Roundy's Inc. executive can go public with his allegations of mismanagement at the company.
Roger Alswager, who was fired last March as Roundy's vice president of real estate, wants to provide information about alleged mismanagement to shareholders.
Roundy's, a Pewaukee supermarket wholesaler and Pick 'n Save grocery operator, claims that Alswager's information includes trade secrets. Roundy's has asked Waukesha County Circuit Judge Robert Mawdsley to issue a restraining order that would bar Alswager from releasing what the company considers confidential business information.
Mawdsley listened to testimony Friday from Alswager, who contends the information is already well-known and not confidential. The judge also heard testimony from Roundy's President and Chief Executive Officer Gerald Lestina and others before telling attorneys he would issue a ruling March 1.
Roundy's is primarily a supermarket wholesaler owned mainly by its roughly 100 Wisconsin supermarket customers. Roundy's owns Copps Food Centers and Pick 'n Save stores, and supplies groceries to independently owned Pick 'n Save stores and other supermarkets.
Separately, Alswager sued Roundy's for defamation, invasion of privacy and breach of contract after he was fired. In that pending lawsuit, Alswager claims that Lestina told others that he was fired following the latest in a series of drunken driving arrests.
Alswager pleaded no contest to the drunken driving charge in January, according to court records. He has not yet been sentenced.

Wisconsin Supermarket Wholesaler Faces Misconduct Claims by Former Executive
February 15, 2002 7:40pm
Feb. 15--A former Roundy's Inc. executive claims the Pewaukee operator of Pick 'n Save supermarkets engaged in misconduct, including preferential treatment for a large customer.
Roger Alswager, fired by Roundy's after a drunken driving arrest last March, wants to send information that outlines his claims to Roundy's shareholders. That information is supported by secretly recorded conversations with Alswager's former bosses.
Roundy's executives deny Alswager's allegations, which they say include trade secrets that would harm the company if revealed.
It has about $3.7 billion in annual sales throughout the Midwest.
The dispute between Roundy's and Alswager, the company's former vice president of real estate, went public Thursday during a hearing before Waukesha County Circuit Judge Robert Mawdsley.
Roundy's wants Mawdsley to order Alswager not to disclose what the company considers confidential business information. Roundy's attorney James Greer took the unusual step of asking Mawdsley to conduct the court hearing in private -- a request the judge denied.
Alswager is bitter about his firing, Greer said, and is running a "smear campaign" aimed at Roundy's President and Chief Executive Officer Gerald Lestina and Vice President of Sales and Development Michael Schmitt.
Separately, Alswager sued Roundy's for defamation and invasion of privacy after he was fired. In that pending lawsuit, Alswager claimed that Lestina told others that Alswager was fired following the latest in a series of drunken driving arrests.
Alswager was charged with drunken driving last March. He pleaded no contest to the charge in January, according to court records. He has not yet been sentenced.
Greer told Mawdsley that Roundy's is not trying to ban Alswager from contacting shareholders with his allegations.
"If (Alswager) wants to make a presentation, he can do so, subject to defamation laws," Greer said. "Can we just eliminate some of the information that's going to do harm to the company?"
Alswager's attorney, Christopher Hale, said the company's trade secrets claim is a ruse.
"Roundy's doesn't want its own shareholders to know of allegations of misconduct," Hale said. "They are trying to insulate management from shareholder scrutiny."

Pewaukee, Wis. - Today two of Wisconsin's oldest and most successful wholesale and retail food companies confirmed their plans for acquisition. Gerald F. Lestina, President and CEO of Roundy's, Inc. and Michael W. Copps, Chairman and CEO of The Copps Corporation, jointly announced that Roundy's intends to acquire 100 percent of the stock of The Copps Corporation. The parties have signed a letter of intent and the transaction is expected to be finalized in mid-2001.

"The cultures and values of our two companies are shared examples of success through honesty, loyalty, hard work and respect for the Wisconsin consumer," he added. In 1944, Copps joined the Independent Grocer's Alliance (IGA) and, two years later, directly entered food retailing with its first store in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The company continues to be owned and operated by the Copps family.

I recently downloaded the Novell Client/32 software for Windows 95 and NT Workstation 4.0 (SP2) and am having problems with either client and machines with 95 or NT. The machines were running the Microsoft client and were working normally with Intel EtherExpress Pro/10 PCI NICs. After installing Client32 neither the 95 or the NT machine would login to my 4.1 server. The Pro/10 is a "Plug and Pray" card so the setup diskette would not let me change the configuration. The driver on the diskette is the same version as the driver on the 95 OEM SR2 CD so loading it did not help either. After I removed the EPro/10 and installed an ISA NE2000 both machines work normally.
I downloaded the latest drivers from Intel's FTP site, to no avail.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks,
Steve Wood

Hello all,
I am having problems running nprinter on a workstation across a 56K WAN link. I am able to signon to the server and load nprinter. It reports that nprinter is installed, but the print server on the file server shows the printer status as offline. I can print to the printer from DOS, so I know the printer is online and working.
Any tips or suggestions?
