General Objective

The purpose of this component is to provide training for participants in the application of educational technology at all levels of education. Upon successful completion of the component, participants will be able to address the use of educational technology in instruction, administration, curriculum, and/or management.

Specific Objectives

Upon completion of this component, participants will be able to:

1. Recognize the goals for educational technology for the state of Florida.

2. Develop instructional strategies for using educational technology in the classroom.

3. Discuss educational hardware available from various vendors.

4. Utilize FIRN.

5. List effective uses of educational technology in the classroom.

6. Discuss how teachers in Florida have utilized multi-media in classroom instruction.

7. Identify grade-level appropriate software and their publishers.

8. Present an overview of the potential application of technology in classrooms to their peers.

9. Discuss potential applications of technology in the areas of administration, classroom management, or other school-related duties.

10. Present an overview of the advantages of multi-media presentations in the classroom to their peers.

11. Share educational appropriate web sites for use in the classroom setting.

Description of Activities

Activities will be designed to accomplish the specific objectives above. They may include, but will not be limited to, discussions, demonstrations, attendance at conferences, educational technology products exhibits, and hands-on training.

Evaluation of Participants

Evaluation of the specific objectives will be determined by the activity leader or designee through analysis of student performance data affected by training activities, portfolios maintained by the training participant, documented observation by administrators, rubrics developed for special area curriculum, teacher-provided test results/grade books, or curriculum alignment data.

Evaluation of Activity

An online evaluation for this activity will be conducted through the Santa Rosa Professional Growth System.
