Our Mission

Living God's love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope.

Our Heritage

Seventh-day Adventist health heritage dates back to May 1866, when the first Adventist health care facility opened in Battle Creek, Michigan. In June 1878, St. Helena Sanitarium (now Adventist Health St. Helena), opened its doors in California. For nearly 140 years, we have been providing compassionate care to communities in the western United States. Our Adventist heritage is also shared with a broader community that circles the globe. This health care network includes more than 170 hospitals and nearly 500 clinics, dispensaries and retirement homes worldwide. Though separated by geography, we all share the same vision to treat the whole person--mind, body and spirit.

OUR COMMITMENT

Adventist Health strives to provide the best possible care to our communities through coordinated care, advanced medical technology and innovation. This distinctive blend of Christian caring and medical expertise helps give patients and their families' peace of mind--that each doctor and nurse are working together on the patient's behalf.

As another part of our commitment as a nonprofit organization, each dollar we make is used to enhance patient care. This money is used for program expansions, hospital and clinic building projects, and utilizing the latest healthcare technology--enabling us to tailor and improve our level of high-quality care for every patient.

Our commitment is our mission. It's a mission that our dedicated caregivers and employees live every day.

COMMUNITY HEALTH DEVELOPMENT

Every day Adventist Health helps to empower healthy communities by improving access to comprehensive, quality healthcare services and enhancing the quality of life for those we serve through health programs that have been collaboratively identified and prioritized. We also provide health professions education, research, and other health services that would be otherwise unavailable to those in need. We are proud to extend our mission into the communities we serve. Together we can build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.
