Honors English IV Research Paper2018Length: 8-10 pages (typed, double-spaced, standard print size [12 point] and margins [1” left, 1” top, 1” right, 1” bottom]Number of sources: 5 secondary sources (research, critical analysis, critical texts) + 2 primary sources (your novel choices). You must have plenty of critical material available on your books. Your sources should be varied and of substance. Use no more than two encyclopedias. Do not use World Book Encyclopedia as a source. For on-line articles, do not use Wikipedia, Sparknotes, Cliff Notes, book summary sites, or other sources of similarly poor validity. Look for comprehensive criticism. Your primary sources should be recognized works of literary merit of respectable length and submitted for approval.Turning in your work: Your final paper is due in an envelope accompanied by a rough draft (you must have one), works cited page, your outline, all notecards, your plagiarism pledge, and your peer editing sheet properly filled out.Grading: Your grade will be broken down in two parts for this paper:1. The grade on the paper itself (content and style) 75%2. A Deadline & Procedure Grade 25%a. Research usage and proper use of MLAb. Notecardsc. Outlined. In-text citationThe paper will count as 300 pts in your average for the class. It counts for more than any test or homework assignment you will have.The paper must be turned in on time. Your grade will be lowered if late even if you are absent.Deadlines: You will have a variety of deadlines throughout the semester. Though, the research paper grade will ultimately go on your quarter four grade. Your first deadline will be to submit your two book titles along with the shared topic you wish to explore. This should be turned in on a notecard by _Friday August 10th_. Your second deadline will be a check of 20 notecards with research materials recorded on them. Then there will be a second 20 notecard check. Next will be the comprehensive outline. That will be followed by the rough draft. The final copy of your paper will be due _Tuesday December 4th.
