Writing/ELA Distance LearningOverview – We want our sixth graders to see themselves as writers and feel valued as members of a writing community. We believe that talking to students about their writing encourages growth in their skills and confidence. Students use their experiences and their environment to gather ideas, and we let them know that you don’t need to live an extraordinary life to write extraordinary piecesEstimated Time – 20-25 MinutesExplanation – You will read and respond to daily writing prompts utilizing your best writing techniques; then complete review work for grammar skills. Some quick things to know:A good paragraph should have a topic sentence, 3-5 detail sentences, and a creative closing sentence.Be sure to think about the topic and what you want to write. Be neat when writing; you may also choose to type your paragraphs.Include vivid vocabulary and correct punctuation. Tasks For each day, there are 2 writing prompts to choose from. You only need to respond to ONE prompt. (You may also do any prompt that you have not done. For example, if you choose Prompt A on day 1, you can then do Prompt B on day 2 instead of one of the day 2 prompts. Just make sure you are responding one prompt each day.) There is a BrainPop grammar clip to watch every other day. Method of Communication – When we return to school you will each hand in your writing prompt responses.
