Advertising Below is a list of different advertising methods that have been proven to be very effective if done properly and in the correct amounts. Make sure that you discuss these different methods that you have chosen with your Coach before moving forward. They might be able to give you some very good advice on how to do these methods correctly and in the correct amounts to make it most effective. This list may be updated from time to time to keep up with the most current advertising methods available to you. Don’t Forget EVERYTHING works if done correctly!1. Word of Mouth: Talk to everyone you know! Take the products every day and then go out and share how you feel! Your “Circle of Influence” is what’s called a warm market. This means it is receptive to what you have to offer just because they know you. That is AWESOME and by far the fastest way to find consumers!2. Wear the Button: This is extremely effective. Your coach will guide you responses of this document to learn a few responses as well as refer to the button responses section in your Herbalife Career Manual, and ask your coach for help with role-playing the responses. This is also one of the most cost effective methods since it’s FREE! Many distributors have built a consumer base by wearing “The Button”!3. Sample and Teach Program: Sample some of Herbalife’s most effective product to people that want to lose or need more energy. Your coach will help you get started in this program.5. Weight Loss Challenge: Hosting a community weight loss challenge, your coach will guide you on how to get started. Check out the WLC Training module, and/or .6. Pull-Tabs: These can be put in Laundry mats, Grocery stores, Phone booths, Soda machines (with permission), Movie theatres, behind the doors in Bathroom stalls, Colleges or any place where there is a Bulletin Board for public announcements. Ask to leave pull-tabs inside Tanning booths at a tanning salon. Have your friends and family help you put up “Hot Pockets” and “Pull-Tabs”.7. Classified Newspaper Ads: The Personals is a great place to run weight loss ads. There are samples in your Herbalife Career Manual. You will get great ads at Herbalife trainings and of course ask your coach for the latest. Listen to the audio training. Talk with your coach before moving forward with this.8. Neighbor Letters: Handwrite, in neat clean writing, a letter (ask your coach for samples of letters) to distribute within your community, which means anywhere within a 10-20 mile radius, depending on where you live. Fold into thirds, punch a hole in the top edge, put a long rubber band through the hole and tie into a slip not, then hang from door knobs at houses in your community.9. Flyering Cars: These are small “business card” (see Hot Card examples) type flyers that can be left on the driver’s door of a car between the rubber molding and the window. DO NOT leave them under the windshield wiper. These cards can be put on cars in parking lots, street parking, pretty much anywhere. Just be sure to check for City ordinances regarding this type of advertising. Some targeted places to flyer cars include: Jenny Craig or Weight Watcher’s meeting parking lots, fitness centers parking lots, bridal shows, day care centers, business and investment seminars, job fairs, baby store parking lots, etc.10. Tubers: This means putting information in the “tubes” that are on the post that mailboxes are attached to. Remember, it is a Federal Offense to open, tamper with, or put something in someone’s mailbox.11..Have a “Shake Party”: This is a great way to get your consumer business up and running. Invite friends, family and guests to a presentation in your home, or contact friends, neighbors, relatives and colleagues and ask them to host a party and invite their friends. How to conduct a shake demonstration is clearly outlined in your Herbalife Career Manual in the “Effective Retailing” section and also on .12. Hot Pockets: These are actually envelopes cut in half and made to hold flyer cards. You can put these just about anywhere you can put a pull-tab. Phone booths, Bulletin boards, etc. Usually about 2-4 flyers fit inside are best in these hot pockets. Have your friends and family help you put up “Hot Pockets” and Pull-Tabs”.13. Spa Basket: Ask your coach if you are interested in this method. You will need a basket, a list of products to include in the basket, a marketing survey, etc. Once the basket is assembled, ask you friends, family customers to try out the spa basket for 2 days, complete the survey, and return the basket back to you with names of others they can refer you to that would like to try out the basket. 14. Grand Opening: Send out emails, letters or better yet make phone calls to your “Circle of Influence” announcing you’ve opened a new business and ask them if they know anyone who would be interested in losing weight, gaining more energy or making some extra money.15. Paper Trail: Leave your business card flyers everywhere you go.a. Shopping Malls, in the dressing rooms, inside handbags, inside pockets of pants, on the shelves, inside shoe boxes.b. Restaurants, on your table at the restaurant, with your bill.c. On the pumps at the gas stations, on telephone booths.d. When grocery shopping, leave on shelves in the aisles with weight loss products.e. Hotels, drop a few in the hallways.f. Go to a pizza place and ask if your cards can be taped to the boxes.g. If you know someone that owns a salon or store front, ask if you can leave a stack of your cards on the counter.h. Put flyer cards inside of newspapers and magazines at grocery stores, including the FREEHomes and Land magazines, FREE Shopper magazines, and car trader magazines outside ofgrocery stores.i. Pay your newspaper carrier to put your flyers in the Sunday papers.j. Video/DVD Rental stores, ask if you can put a stack of flyer cards on the counter.k. Doctor, Dentist, Eye Doctor, Physical Therapist, etc. type offices. Put flyer cards in all themagazines lying around.16. Flyer Cards in Outgoing Mail: Place flyers inside ALL outgoing mail that leaves your house, all your bills when you pay them, etc.17. Magnetic Sign on Side/Rear of Car: Purchase the “Lose Weight Now” magnetic sign from and stick it to the side/rear of your car. Put your phone number on that sign. Great exposure!18. Vinyl Lettering for Side/Rear of Car: Have vinyl-lettering put on the side/rear windows of your car. Contact your local vendor or search the Internet for vinyl lettering that is self-adhesive. Great exposure!19. Internet Advertising: Massive advertising on the Internet, you can place as many FREE ads that you want. You can use billboards, or banners, whatever method you are familiar with. Always check with your coach before doing these to make sure they are within the ethics of Herbalife.20. Host a “Spa Party”: This is a great way to build your consumer business and introduce new and current customers to Herbalife’s Outer Nutrition product line. Invite friends, family and guests to a ‘hands-on’ presentation in your home, or contact friends, neighbors, relatives and colleagues and ask them to host a party and invite their friends. Follow the how to conduct a shake demonstration outlined in your Herbalife Career Manual in the “Effective Retailing” section and modify to fit the needs of sampling outer nutrition. Also refer to for ideas as well21. Total Plan: Contact your warm market and ask if they would be interested in participating in amarketing survey of Herbalife’s Outer Nutrition products. Book appointments to demonstrate andsample the products, ask them to complete the survey & provide you with a list of referrals they think would also be interested in participating in the survey. Offer incentives for any products purchased. Refer to for the how to’s and other business tips on how to make these successful.22. Free Facials: Hand out flyers, send out emails, call your family, friends, customers, and ask if they know anyone who would be interested in having a free facial. Book appointments at either their home or yours. Refer to for more information on how to prepare for and conduct the facials.23. Place ads on paper placemats at restaurants.24. When telemarketers call, answer their questions then do your own survey with them.25. Hand out an orange flyer with “Treat no Tricks – Lose Weight instead of eating sweets – call for free sample” include your phone number with the candy or better yet, a protein bar sample.26. Bring Herbal Aloe hair products to your next appointment at your hairdresser and ask them to use these products on you.27. ANYTIME you call a business, ask them at the end of the call if they know anybody who would like a weight-loss or energy sample.28. Make a HUGE window shade for your car and other cardboards signs. Park your car in a busy area and leave it there for a few hours. Ride your bike home, or go flyer cars in the parking lot, or go to the gym while the car shade is working for you.29. Barter with other businesses to put your sign at their establishment (especially in a busy area). Offer to give them a percentage of sales from that sign.30. Send out a monthly newsletter to all of your customers and other contacts (ask your coach forsamples of newsletters). Include weight loss and income testimonies, product of the month, newproduct information, etc.31. Make an audio tape of testimonies from voicemails or interview your customers for their testimonies. Hand out audio tapes to potential customers.32. Search the Internet for target sites like gastric bypass, e-diets, sleep disorder clinics and others, join their chat rooms and forums, see if they will sell you their opt-in list, see if they offer advertising or reciprocity links. Send targeted postcards to any mailing list you buy.33. Scour your Sunday paper for birth announcements. Send them a congratulations postcard or letter and include weight loss info with your contact information.34. Scour your Sunday paper for wedding announcements.
