“No Wrong Door Project” Information & Referral and Options Counseling Lead

Independent Living Resources (ILR) is recruiting for a No Wrong Door Lead position. We are looking for a person who understands community resources available for people with disabilities and seniors in the Portland Metro Area and rural NW Oregon. Preferred candidates will be currently certified as an AIRS (Association of Information & Referral Specialists: CIRS-A/D) and/or as an Oregon Options Counselor with experience working with people with disabilities.

The successful candidate will coordinate ILR’s Information & Referral (I & R) and Options Counseling Services for a nine-county service area with a majority of services offered in the

Tri-County Area. Periodic travel throughout the region is an essential part of the job. The position will provide direct services, as well as participate in the training and coordination of

2-3 graduate social work field-work students who support the project. The position interfaces with other project lead positions at ILR to ensure that ILR consumers receive integrated person-directed services. No Wrong Door Services are provided under a contract from Aging & People with Disabilities.

The No Wrong Door Lead ensures a positive customer service experience for all people contacting ILR about services. The position provides consumers and community partners with direct information about services utilizing the State of Oregon’s RTZ Database Care Tool and interfaces with the Oregon “No Wrong Door” Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC).

The successful candidate will have the skills needed to work effectively in a fast-paced environment serving people with disabilities on the phone, the internet and in-person. The preferred candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well with staff, volunteers and consumers, maintaining confidential and professional relationships.

The No Wrong Door Lead position is also a unique opportunity for a new graduate with a Masters Degree in Social seeking clinical licensure. ILR offers complimentary supervision by experienced staff LCSWs, as well as Options Counseling Training and experience working for an innovative Center for Independent Living.

ILR also prefers candidates who have 1) a personal experience with disability, 2) knowledge of the Independent Living Movement & Values, 3) experience working for a Center for Independent Living (CIL), and are 4) either a Certified Information & Referral Specialist (CIRS-A/D) or who are eligible to complete CIRS-A/D exams within 12 months of hire.

Compensation & Benefits: The No Wrong Door Lead at ILR is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $37,000 - $43,000 annually. This position comes with paid group health, vision, alternative care and dental coverage, as well as access to medical spending and dependent care spending accounts and various AFLAC products. Employment at ILR may also qualify for federal student loan forgiveness programs.
