Vision “To empower the youth and women to change their own “futures” through appropriate skills.2.Mission To develop the unemployed youth and women through initiatives that will empower them to become self-reliant and independent to improve their quality of life.3.Problem statement Built Africa focuses on unemployed youth and women within the geographical area within Derdepoort, Lindo Park, East Lynne, Ekklesia, Jan Niemand Park and surrounding areas of Pretoria. . Unemployment is caused by the lack of skills that comes due to the lack of formal schooling that could help them to acquire necessary skills. The lack of recreational facilities in the community contributes to the high rate of crime, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse and the spread of HIV/Aids. 4.Background of the organisationThe name Built Africa derived from the word “built” meaning sturdy or strong. Built Africa is an organisation which recognises the strong standing of all Africans and inhabitants in the African continent. This proudly South African organisation was formed in 2016 and registered on 22nd March 2017. The main aim is to build strong community through skills development. The organisation was founded by Ms Gertze whose passion is to help vulnerable unemployed youth and women by equipping them with tools and resources which will make a positive change in their lives. Ms Gertze ideas came through her exposure from her working environment within the public and private sector where she gained the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to achieve goals and objectives. Ms Gertze is a registered professional Social worker with twenty five years working experience within Occupational Health and Safety and Community development. The services render are based on the four (4) pillars as follows: 1. Information, direct and refer, 2. Job data and readiness Centre 3. Life and Skills development 4. Entrepreneurship development.
