Orange County Resort takes you to the unique experience

of living in a plantation sandwiched by mother nature.

Lose your self – in “The Resort that made a Destination”.

In Coorg (Kodagu), one wakes up to the chirping of birds and fragrance of coffee & cinnamon. As the first rays of sun filters through the thick foliage, a group of tribesmen trek into the forest, to collect honey, herbs & spices. Not far away, another group is already in their paddy field with their buffaloes, ready to plough the earth loose.

The tiny district of Coorg in southern India has woken up to greet another day.

Nestled in the Western Ghats, unlike most tourist spots, Coorg still retains its old world charm intact. This cluster of villages offer, crisp air, thick tropical forests, miles of exotic spices & coffee plantations and extensive paddy fields apart from abundance of flora and fauna.

Orange County Resort invites you to explore this blessed country. Situated in the tiny hamlet Siddapura, amidst 300 acres of coffee and spice plantations, cosseted by River Cauvery and thousands of acres of Dubare Reserve Forest, Orange County promises seclusion, exclusivity and tranquility.

The unmatched village and plantation experience is complemented by an occasional visit of elephants or sambar to the resort. As the dusk falls, chirping of crickets break the eerie silence.

The curious mixture of population in Coorg consists of the Kodavas & the Tribals: The Kodavas are a clan of warriors. Legend says that they are descendants of the soldiers of Alexander the Great. The Kodavas speak "Kodava Thak", a mixture of the Kannada and Malyalam languages. They are ancestor worshipers, with each family maintaining an ancestral house called "Aiynmane".

Kodavas have their own distinctive traditional dress for special occasions. The men wear an outfit called "Kupia" and women "Sari" pleated at the back. Married women wear a trailing scarf called "Vastra".

The Tribals - are called Kurubas and Eravas who live in small communities in the forest. Their livelihood is from paddy cultivation and collection of honey and herbs from the forests. The tribals have their own colorful festivals and customs akin to some African tribals. Men and women smear ash and vermilion on their bodies and sing and dance around a fire pit after sunset.

Orange County Resort takes you to this unbelievable setting without damaging the delicate social fabric. The Resort offers tastefully designed cottages, suites, Villas with private pools and even a Kettuvallam (House Boat), without disturbing the abundance of nature. The service of the staff gives the word "Pampering", a whole new meaning.

One could dip into the swimming pool, sprawl on the pool deck, workout back to shape in the health spa.

The restaurant is known for the delicious food it serves. Its menu features the exotic local dishes apart from the best of Indian, Chinese and selected continental cuisine. We invite you to Orange County Resort – Coorg, "where hospitality is the only sign of civilization".

What is more. The resort offers its guests rejuvenation of mind and body at our brand new Vaidyasala, where one can experience Ayurveda truly at its very best.
