The manager collaborates with other managers to provide regular community-wide programming. This is a working management position, involving, but not limited to escorting resident trips, hosting activities, and filling in to cover other functions within the department. The content of this job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work expectations performed by incumbents in this classification. All activities are completed in accord with the mission, vision and values of The Highlands, following all policies, procedures, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, patient confidentiality, and other Federal, State and Local laws and regulations, as appropriate.Essential Functions:Develops, plans and executes programming opportunities that support The Highlands’ wellness philosophy, ensures a diversity of offerings and meets the needs to current and future residents.Ensures the timely and accurate completion, distribution, and coordination of monthly and weekly programming calendars, newsletter and related schedules, records, and reports. Oversees and evaluates all activities to ensure safety of residents. Documents resident incidents that occur during recreational programming.Responsible for in-house television programming and desktop publishing.Responsible for the development, oversight, and day-to-day responsibilities of people/staff, including staff meetings, discipline, and annual performance reviews. Maintains staff schedules; ensuring proper coverage. Responsible for hiring and training of all staff to be consistent with the approved policies and procedures of The Highlands. Encourage and promotes personal development of staff. Supports a culture and environment focused on customer service. Collaborates with other management positions to provide regular community-wide programming.Escorts resident trips, hosts activities, and fills in to cover other functions within the department.Responsible for the development, oversight, and compliance of the department’s budget. Successfully manages the budget for an entire fiscal year striving to achieve better than planned results, adapting to changing circumstances, and being able to explain variances timely.Submits capital and operating budgets accurately, timely, and supported by realistic assumptions and to the greatest extent possible include managerial thought and planning.Works closely with Information Technology to purchase and schedule repairs of all program equipment, including capital budget items, and maintains all audio equipment, mobile units, in-house TV channel. Plans and executes strategies to improve procedures and processes.Provides contact and public relations ties with external community groups.Participates as a staff liaison to assigned Residents’ Council committees as well as other resident committees/clubs. Actively serves as a member of the Wellness Team (ENGAGE)Deals with Resident issues and special requests; provides one to one time to residents when necessary.
