“Making the Strategic Leap from Manager to Senior Leader” – Administrative Hours

- Lou Ann Brubaker

The expectation of those at top of a senior care organization is that they will execute the organization's vision and realize its operational and financial objectives. To achieve this, their focus cannot be one of daily management, but a more profound leadership insight. The goals within this session challenge participants to self-identify their leadership gaps, move from the day-to-day mindset to a longer-range strategic focus, lead sweeping change in a more positive way, and build a more effective and accountable second-tier team.

Whether you are an executive within clinical operations, information systems, finance, marketing or other area within your community or facility, this program will enhance the breadth and depth of your senior-level influence and accomplishment. Seminar objectives include:

• Recognize the 10 dynamics of successful leadership, including the difference between the managerial/authority mindset and that of developed leader;

• Self-identify how inherent personality traits can influence leadership of others (via a self-scored tool);

• Identify where and when some leadership-level “weaknesses” are more traditional manager-level “strengths” over used;

• Avoid similarity assumptions of direct reports that can result in micro-management focus;

• Create appropriate and realistic “stretch” goals for direct reports;

• Bring the executive vision for the organization to an operational focus by “localizing” corporate goals to daily management and staff tasks;

• Target goal achievement in a more quantifiable way; and,

• Identify ways to share internal measurements with staff to motivate them to higher levels of performance.

“Ethical Affluence and the Impact of Integrity” - Administrative Hours

- Yonason Goldson

You're a good person -- friendly, polite, fair, honest, and thoughtful.

At least, that's how you see yourself.  But is that how others see you?

With half a trillion dollars in productivity lost every year in the United States because of employee disengagement and workplace conflict, it's obvious that we aren't all as high-minded and easy-going as we think we are.

The question is, what are we going to do about it?

It all depends on clear and honest communication — which starts when we recognize that others often see us very differently from how we see ourselves:

• Do we act appreciative or entitled?

• Do we offer counsel or belittlement?

• Do we inspire confidence or suspicion?

Awareness of how we come across to others allows us to forge healthy relationships, promote productive meetings, and transform a group of individuals into a cohesive team.  This keynote will give you:

• Entertaining stories and real-world examples of ethical conflicts

• A guide to foster cooperative spirit when dealing with others

• A strategy for holding ourselves to a higher standard of personal responsibility
