The scholarship is used to aid with the first-year educational expenses to help give the undergraduate student assistance in their new life experience.EligibilityRead the requirements carefully and good luck to you.Student (Applicant) must graduate from a Texas High School.Student must be a legal dependent of an employee of a TGA member company in good standing.Student must be entering their first year in undergraduate school if applying for an Academic Scholarship, age 22 and under.Students applying for a scholarship to an undergraduate college must be entering a four-year college or university, or a two-year institution which will ultimately lead to an undergraduate degree.TGASF will award eight $2,500 academic scholarships in 2021 to first-year undergraduate students who carry a full-time class load for both semesters of the academic year. TGASF will award scholarships to the applicants deemed to be the worthiest by the Scholarship Selection Committee. The selections made by the Scholarship Selection Committee will be final.Student must submit the following data for consideration:A typed, complete application. Incomplete or hand-written applications will not be considered.Applicants must provide a brief accounting of their employment history during the high school years (if applicable, if not use the N/A to complete the section). So that the Scholarship Selection Committee may develop a better understanding of how well applicants manage their time.In the Employment History section, applicants should not include more than the three most recent employments. Provide a focused listing of extracurricular activities and time frame, along with a list of the amount of community service rendered. In the Extracurricular Activities section, applicants should focus on artistic (visual, performing, musical, etc.) and/or athletic endeavors during the high school years. A typed essay not exceeding one page in 12-point font, single line spacing that addresses the following points: (The essay must not have your name, your parents’ name or parents’ Company of employment. Violation of this will disqualify your application. One (1) written/typed recommendation letter on letterhead and signed from a teacher, coach, principal, or pastor (not a family member) explaining why they believe you should receive the scholarship.*(The recommendation letter must NOT include applicants name, parents’ name, or parents’ company’s name.) Violation of this will cause the letter of recommendation to be removed from your application. For example, instruct author to use words like student, applicant, he/she, young adult in place of applicant’s name. This letter should be put in an envelope with applicant’s name on the outside of the envelope and returned to the TGA along with your application.*All incomplete applications and essays or pages missing will not be considered.Recipients must be 22 years of age and under on the starting date of their first fall semester of their first year of undergraduate studies for which they receive the award.The applicant must enroll in college for the Fall Semester of the 2021 academic year.
