Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium and of the European Union but also the administrative centre for many international organizations such as NATO and the World Customs Organization. This metropolis plays host to many international conferences due to its unique position in the European community. Brussels boasts over 100 museums and in mid-August the famous bi-annual flower carpet will adorn the main square. It is a known fact that the Belgian waffles, French fries and chocolate are outstanding and the assortment of local beers is second to none.
