R35 GT-R Install Guide

R35 GT-R Install Guide

I. Overview

The Dynamic Wing S2 ships with a stock GTR tune that requires minimal setup. A few simple steps and the wing will be up and running. If you have any questions about the installation, please do not hesitate to contact Aeromotions.

II. Installation

A. Power

The ADAPT S2 controller requires 10A switched power. This can be taped off an existing 10A switched line, or run as a switched relay from the battery.

Taping into the switched power. There is a 10 amp switched cigarette receptacle toward the back of the center arm rest. This can be tapped to supply the power for the wing. This circuit is already switched and fused. At high speed, the wing will require all 10 amps, in which case, you should not use the cigarette lighter to power any other accessories. Under 90 mph, the wing uses far less power. Most phone chargers are acceptable. Aeromotions recommends you test to make sure. Unplug phone chargers or any additional power draws for track use.

Running power from the battery though the firewall. The battery is on the right side of the engine compartment. There is a small rubber stopper behind the battery that goes directly into the cabin. Pull the side panel (lower right passenger side, one plastic thumb screw, then pull panel in towards car evenly it pops out). Behind that and UP is the ECU and wiring harnesses. Looking farther up and toward the front firewall you will see the hole from the removed stopper.

B. Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

The VSS provides the vehicle speed to the computer. The VSS is tapped from the dash behind the navigation console. First remove the center console near the passenger seat. It pulls straight out near the center and slides back near the front.

Behind the DVD head unit, there is a WHITE plug with 20+ positions. From the rear of the unit, it would be on the top left corner. From your passenger side view, its the closest to you on top.

Near the center of the TOP of the plug, is a red power line, right next to that is a VIOLET line. The violet line is the VSS. Tap the line (20 to 24 AWG cable) and run it to the trunk.

Mounting the Control Box

The control box should be mounted in the trunk of the vehicle.

Flat and Level. The control box should be mounted to a flat, level surface in the car. This will ensure the G’s read by the control box is the same as those recorded by data acquisition systems. The box can be mounted with the buttons facing up, or with the buttons facing down. The computer will compensate for the inversion of the accelerometer.

Up Arrow Facing Forward. There are two arrows on the control box. The up arrow (orange triangle) should face forward.

Exposed to the air. Mount the box so that the vent fans are unobstructed. Do not enclose the controller in a compartment less than one cubic foot, as overheating might occur.

II. Mounting S2 Wing to the R35

In order to use the stock GTR tune, the wing should be mounted as follows. Center the wing on the trunk. Measuring from the side view mirrors to the forward tip of the end plates ensures the wing will be mounted square to the car.

The black aluminum uprights have carbon shells, called feet, that adapt the wing to the trunk. These feet fit snugly into the bottom of the aero tube. The rear tip of each foot should be 5 1/2 inches from rear lip of the trunk.

Once positioned, three holes should be drilled per upright. Two are clearance holes for the included M6 bolts, the third is for the power cable. The three holes are the same as the holes drilled in the carbon fiber feet.

Optional Trunk Stiffener. A flat carbon plate can be used to rigidify the wing mounting to CF trunks. This should be fitted to the underside of the trunk. The M6 bolts should effectively clamp this stiffener, to the aero tube. From the underside of the trunk, the order is: Bolt head, CF stiffening plate, Trunk skin, Aeromotions CF Foot, Aeromotions Power Pod.

After the fitment is complete, the CF stiffeners should be glued to the underside of the trunk. Doing so will substantially rigidify the wing mounting.

III. Tuning

The controller is push button adjustable. The first step is to trim out the two wing halves for each wing angle.

1. Set the sliding switch to “Both” and turn the controller on. If installed correctly, the wing will move through a startup routine, hitting each of the wing angles.

2. The sliding switch has three positions:

• L - Left, Drivers Side wing half

• R - Right, Passenger Side wing half

• Both – Both wing halves

There are four wing angles used to control the wing.

Maneuvering- This is the angle the default angle of the wing. The wing is in this angle during cornering, light braking, and light acceleration.

Straightaway- Wing angle on a straightaway

Max Down Force – Wing angle the wing during braking.

Min Down Force- Wing angle of the wing.

3. Max Downforce. Holding the Max Down Force button will move the wing into the Max Downforce Angle. Measuring from the bottom lip of the trunk, the distance to the trailing edge of the wing should be 16.5”. To move the Left wing half up, set the selector switch to L, and press the up arrow (+). Setting the selector switch to Both will move both halves.

4. Min Down Force. Hold down the Min Down Force Button. This will position the wing to the lower most angle. Move the lower wing half up to meet the upper wing half.

5. Straightaway. Hold the Straightaway button down, and set an angle at or above Min Down force. For the GTR, this angle should be very close to min down force.

6. Maneuvering. The maneuvering angle should be 15 ¾” from the bottom lip of the trunk. This should be moved up if the car over-steers, or down if it under-steers. This is the only angle that is based on the car’s suspension and tire settings.

7. Base GTR Map Holding each of the buttons down, adjust the number of light bars, 0-10 on the LED display, to match the Base GTR Map bellow.

Base GTR Wing Map

|Sensitivity | |Wing Angle | |

| Breaking |10 | | |

| Roll |10 | Maneuvering |15 ¾” |

|Threshold | | Straightaway | |

| Breaking |3 | Max Down Force |16.5” |

| Acceleration |6 | Min Down Force | |
