POST TITLE:Airport Security OperativeLOCATION:Bournemouth AirportSTATEMENT OF PURPOSE:To complete searching, access control, patrol and guarding duties in accordance with Level 1 Aviation Security Officer training, EU Directives, DfT/CAA regulatory requirements, service delivery standards and performance targets.To operate within a flexible and effective roster to fulfil the duties associated with the provision of security and airport support services at Bournemouth Airport with such functions as PRM. Also to maintain full compliance of facilities and buildings with active control of the terminal frontage roadway, to ensure a secure and safe area in line with Department for Transport requirements.To provide the provision of a special needs service for persons with reduced mobility (PRM), Departing and/or Arriving at Bournemouth International Airport. It is understood that PRM means any person whose mobility is reduced due physical incapacity (sensory or locomotory), an intellectual deficiency, age, illness, or any other cause of disability when using transport and whose situation needs special attention, including the bespoke adaptation of a person’s needs in respect of the services provided to all passengers. Reporting to the Security Team Leader/Supervisor provide support and assistance by providing a positive greeting, image and a high level of customer service to internal and external customers. To work with a banked hours working system which provides flexibility of working hours to meet the challenge of seasonal business. This may require the working of additional hours during the summer season and reduced hours during the winter season. Base salary will remain consistent across all working months.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Security and Customer Service AccountabilitiesTo carry out searches as required for aviation security purposes of:-intending passengers and their baggage;persons detained by Police, UKBA, other Control Authorities and their visitors;staff and airport workers;aircraft, building and vehicles; andmake appropriate records of articles confiscated during the course of searchesand in accordance with EU Directives, DfT/CAA requirements and service delivery standards.To prevent prohibited articles entering the Critical Part by:operating x-ray equipment, other screening and detection devices observing screens and equipment images, information and data outputs;assessing the significance of images, information and data produced in accordance with their training;where appropriate enquiring with the owner of luggage and/or other item/property and subsequent confiscation of prohibited articlesensuring compliance at all times with EU Directives, DfT/CAA requirements and service delivery standards and security procedures.To undertake patrols by foot or vehicle of airport premises and periphery (including ground movement Airside controlled/uncontrolled areas for escorts, emergency or other purposes) remaining alert and vigilant for the purpose of identifying and taking appropriate action to:prevent unauthorized access, trespass and intrusion onto airport property, especially the Critical Part and Airside Areas;report damage to perimeter fencing or other property or buildings which compromise security of the Critical Part, Airside Areas or airport property;reporting suspicious persons or vehicles immediately to the Security Team Leader, Supervisor or Airport Duty Manager in all incidences and when the situation is perceived an emergency;reporting immediately to the Airport Duty Manager action or inaction on the part of airport staff or operators which compromises airfield safety;investigate fire alarm indicators in the Terminal Buildings passing situation reports to the Airport Duty Manager.assist in the evacuation of passengers, staff and visitors in emergency situations; and enforce the airport bylaws.To control and prevent unauthorized access at Security Access Control Points (CSA and VCP) by means of:-reading, checking and verifying boarding cards of intending passengers at Security Access Points and also utilized for staff access.reading, checking and verifying Identity Cards of staff, Airport works at Security Access Points and access points also utilized for intended passenger access.refusing entry to unauthorized persons and taking reporting action where necessary; and exit at Security Control posts and at other such places, where it is deemed necessary for egress to be monitored in accordance with EU Directives, DfT/CAA requirements, service delivery standards and performance targets set by the Security Team Leader and Supervisor.To monitor, control and direct persons and vehicles ensuring that clear and concise information, guidance and where necessary instruction is provided to the public, airport workers and any other person.Make enquiries and submit reports on incidents as instructed by the Security Team Leader/Supervisor and in accordance with security procedures.To maintain high standards and levels of skill and knowledge by:setting the right personal example in the way duties are performed;keeping abreast of new procedures and security/terminal developmentsremaining alert and vigilant to activity on the airport and periphery to ensure risks are minimised through prompt action and reporting to Supervisors;maintaining a polite, courteous and friendly manner towards the public, airport workers, control authorities and security colleagues.In this customer-facing role a fully trained Airport Security Operative will deliver the core security function in a fully compliant manner providing excellent customer service throughout to ease the passenger’s journey through the Airport.To ensure that the PRM Service requests are conducted in a professional and timely manner in accordance with SLA’s, and ensure that safety and passenger dignity is maintained at all times.To act as the primary Customer interface within all passengers ensuring that they are processed where required through the security areas in a safe, compliant and customer friendly manner, in line with any specific requirements of the Customer.To provide support to the Airport Information Desk and switchboard and ensure the smooth operation of Car Parks and equipment, providing a positive image and a high level of service delivery to internal and external customers in accordance with external regulatory requirements and all relevant policies and procedures.To work closely with the Customer Services Manager, Security Team Leader, Customer Services Team Leader, Airport Duty Managers and Supervisor in the delivery of high quality customer services throughout the airport facilities and after the receipt of appropriate service delivery training provide support to the service delivery team when required to maintain effective customer support services. Deliver all the services identified in an effective and efficient manner whist ensuring a high quality of output to help ease the passenger’s journey, providing prompt, accurate information and customer satisfaction. Provide a friendly welcoming demeanour. Prompt notification to the Security Team Leader/Supervisor when items require resolution.To participate in the airport emergency plan and fulfil Fire Marshall duties in the emergency evacuation of the terminal buildings in the event of Fire Alarm or Act of Aggression.
