Read Around the PlanetFebruary 252015Mrs. Hurley’s Kindergarten class at Pecan Grove Elementary participated in the Read Around the Planet video conference. Our partner class goes to Nan Gray Davis Elementary in Theodore, Alabama. We were proud to share our research on sloths with our new friends!Video Conferencing in KindergartenHi! We are Mrs. Hurley’s Kindergarten class at Pecan Grove Elementary. We live in Richmond, Texas, which is very close to Houston. Here we are on the map:There are 45 elementary schools in our district, and we are building more because our city is growing so fast! Our mascot is the cougar cub, and our school colors are blue and white. The weather today is very cold and it might rain later. The time right now is ______.We are doing a big research project about animals. Our class chose to learn about sloths. Here are some fun facts we have learned so far. Sloths are the slowest mammal on Earth. They hang upside down (even after they die!) for 90% of their life. They live in the trees in the rainforest.Algae can grow on them and make them look green.Sloths have one baby a year. They are about two feet tall. Our class read the book “Slowly, slowly, slowly, said the sloth” by Eric Carle. We made a huge picture of the rainforest and made our own sloths. We had a blast creating our rainforest mural! ................
