• Text: Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry fifth edition Houghton Mifflin $75.68

Materials provides by Students:

Lined paper and graph paper

Pencils/Erasers –all work must be neat and written in pencil.

Folder to manage work. Every student must maintain a 3 ring notebook to keep their assignments, quizzes, and test .



Curriculum Topics: Use trigonometric functions, their graphs, and their inverses; use trigonometric identities to solve problems and verify equivalence statements; solve trigonometric equations analytically and with technology; find areas of triangles using trigonometric relationships; use sequences and series; understand and use vectors; investigate the Central Limit theorem; and use margins of error and confidence intervals to make inferences from data.

Unit 4: Graphs and Inverses of Trigonometric Functions

Unit 5: Trigonometric Identities

Unit 6: Extended Trigonometry

Unit7: Sequences and Series

Unit 8: Data Analysis

Home work: Homework will be assigned most days and checked the next day, either for completeness or accuracy.

Class work: Work assigned during class is to be completed or by request finished at home.

Quizzes: During each unit there will be quizzes.

Tests: Each unit will have at least one test.

Final Exam: A comprehensive final exam will be given at the completion of the course.

Average: Grade will be determined by the following:

Final Exam 15%

Tests = 30%

Quizzes = 25%

Home work = 15%

Class work = 15%

Grading Scale:

A 100 – 90

B 89 – 80

C 79 – 70

F 69 – 0

Absences: The student is responsible for missed work. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for work missed.

Make-up work: If a test or quiz is missed, you will need to arrange a time to take the test or quiz. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for make-up work.

Help Sessions: Teacher will be available on Tuesday mornings from 7:00 – 7:30 and Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Students must pre-arrange help sessions in advance.

Recovery:

1. Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements including attendance. Students should contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities. Teachers are expected to establish a reasonable time period for recovery work to be completed during the semester. All recovery work must be directly related to course objectives and must be completed ten school days prior to the end of the semester.

2. Teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades.

3. Students scoring below 75% on an assessment may elect to retake that assessment with the possibility of receiving a replacement grade of 75%. Any assessment may be retaken as often as determined by the teacher to achieve success. The student must schedule a time for reassessment.
