Attendance/Tardies:

Refer to the student handbook for the complete attendance and tardy policy. You are expected to be in the room when the bell rings. Attendance is vital to success in this course.

Classroom Rules:

1. Be Safe.

Keep your hands to yourself.

2. Be Responsible.

Try your best. Ask Questions. Do your homework. Be on time. Be prepared. Self-advocate and take responsibility for your education. Please come to me, personally, with questions, problems, and concerns.

3. Be Respectful.

Be kind. . . to friends, classmates, & QCHS Staff.

Electronic Devices:

QCHS does not permit the use of electronic devices during class time. This includes but is not limited to mobile phones, personal listening devices, laptops (unless prior approval for taking notes or presentations), gaming device, or any other distracting electronic device. Also, I do not allow headphones to be worn or visible while in class. If any electronic device is visible during class time it is assumed to be in use.

Grading Policy: The grades are cumulative for each semester. There will be a cumulative grade reported at approximately 4 ½ week intervals. Grades are updated weekly. I hold the expectation that students and parents track grades consistently on the internet.

Grading scale

A = 90-100%

B = 80-89%

C = 70-79%

D = 60-69%

F = 0-59%

Assignments:

Students are required to participate in the learning activities provided in class, including taking notes, group activities, and investigations. Although some class time may be provided for students to work on their homework, students should expect some homework each day. It is always due the next school day. Work must be shown to receive credit. No exceptions. Students receive points for completing their homework on time and / or accuracy. No credit for unfinished work. Partial credit for late work.

Formatives:

Students will take formatives each week. Formatives will be used to assign reteach. If a student receives a reteach, they will automatically have the opportunity to retake the formative. Students will always have the option to attend Achievement hour and do retakes as well.

Assessments:

Tests and quizzes will be given regularly throughout each unit. If a review day is missed, the student will still take the test or quiz with the class. Students can earn the chance to improve their scores on tests and quizzes by completing a “Corrections” form. See details on other form.

Finals:

At the end of each semester, students will take a Galileo test and a course Final Exam.

Make-up Policy:

It is the student’s responsibilities at all times and in all cases to obtain, complete, and turn in work missed due to absences within the specified time.

Academic Misconduct:

Students caught cheating will receive a zero on that particular assignment or assessment. See below for examples of academic misconduct.

ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT

In general, academic misconduct is appropriating someone else’s work and representing it as your own. Various types of academic misconduct include, but are not limited to:

Cheating: Partial or total copying from another person on an assignment, quiz, or test. Using or attempting to use unauthorized aids or materials during a quiz or test. For example:

o Copying another student’s homework assignment.

o Using unautorized “cheat-sheets” during a test.

Plagiarism: Using the opinions, words, or statements of another person as your own without acknowledging the original source. For example:

o Quoting, summarizing, or paraphrasing another person’s work without giving that writer credit for his/her work.

o Not listing all sources that were incorporated into your assignment.

Misuse of Computers and/or graphing calculators: Using computers in an unauthorized or inappropriate manner. For example:

o Damaging or altering computer records or settings.

o Invading another person’s files, programs, or data.

Facilitating Academic Dishonesty: Helping or attempting to help another student with acts of academic misconduct. For example:

o Giving someone else your homework to copy.

o Telling another student the content of a quiz or test.

Unauthorized Collaboration: Working with another person on an assignment, quiz or test when specifically instructed not to do so by the teacher. For example:

o Completing a take-home test with another student when the teacher specifically prohibited group work.

o Working with another student on an assignment that the teacher defined as an individual assignment with no collaboration.
