The text used in this class is McDougal Littell Middle School Math – Course 2.

Along with the text, supplemental materials will also be utilized to enhance and enrich the students’ curriculum, such as exemplars for problem solving.

Each day homework/practice is checked for completion, questions are addressed from the homework/practice, and the previous day’s lesson is reviewed. The current day’s lesson follows. This includes demonstration, questions, and group problem solving of sample problems. If time allows, we fill out the note taking guide (the note-taking guide is online as a link on my webpage). Homework is then assigned. Students are expected to look over the assignment and ask any questions they may have regarding the assignment. As much as possible, time is provided for students to begin homework.

The grading categories are:

20% Home/Class Work **PLEASE NOTE**

Homework is almost always a completion grade. If your student tried all of the problems then they receive a 100%. I accept assignments up to one day late and give a 50% grade. If the assignment was later than one day or not turned in it is a 0%.

30% Quizzes

50% Tests

Homework is generally given every day and is expected to be completed on time. Students are expected to actively participate in class and ask questions. Quizzes are generally given mid-chapter and at the end of each chapter. Tests are given upon completion of each chapter. A mid-year test and an end of year test (from second semester through the end of the year) are also given. The mid and end of year tests are ONE of the criteria used for placement in 7th grade. Grades and teacher evaluation are also considered for next year’s placement.
