Introducing: All for Good Volunteers (The HandsOn Connect Facebook Application)What is All for Good? All for Good is a hub for volunteerism and community service on the Internet. As part of Points of Light/ HandsOn Network’s portfolio of volunteer management tools (which also includes HandsOn Connect), All for Good allows organizations to post their volunteer opportunities where thousands of volunteers are looking for them. Over 48 million searches were performed through All for Good last year. All HandsOn Connect opportunities are automatically included in the All for Good database and included in all All for Good searches. We envision the site as a meeting place for organizations and individuals, providing a communal platform that allows people to see where change is needed, and makes it easy for them to engage. How does it fit in with my partnership with HandsOn NWNC and HandsOn Connect? As a nonprofit partner of HandsOn NWNC, you post and manage your volunteer opportunities via their HandsOn Connect site. What you might not know is that all volunteer opportunities posted through HandsOn Connect are promoted on All for Good—meaning that thousands of potential volunteers are seeing your volunteer opportunities while searching for opportunities on All for Good and its partner sites (including ). As another bonus, being an Affiliate partner means you get access to All for Good’s groundbreaking Facebook app--All for Good Volunteer.2491740399415What is All for Good Volunteer, and why should I use it?All for Good Volunteer is the first application for organizations to display their volunteer opportunities on Facebook. It lives on your Facebook organization page in one of the tabs beneath your cover photo—next to ‘Photos’, ‘Likes’, ‘Notes’, etc. Click here to view it on HandsOn NWNC’s page. (It’s the “Volunteer Now” tab.)By clicking on the ‘All for Good Volunteer” tab, visitors to your organization page will be able to access a listing of all YOUR organization’s current volunteer opportunities. You can also customize the name of the tab—as HandsOn NWNC did—as you see fit.Beyond just giving a list of what volunteer opportunities are available, the listing app also shares who else is involved— who’s ‘Liked’ a volunteer opportunity, comments made by fans on your opportunities, and so on. With three view options—including a map view—volunteers are able to search for volunteer opportunities they’re interested in by keyword and issue area, as well as filtering by dates and distances they’re willing to travel to a volunteer opportunity. Once a volunteer finds and clicks on a volunteer opportunity they like, they’ll be directed to the corresponding opportunity description page you posted on HandsOn Connect. The AFG Volunteer app is a visual, social way to engage volunteers on Facebook. With so much happening on Facebook and other social media, having an app that meets your volunteers there is a next step in making sure your volunteer recruitment is current and effective.
