New ClubsNoneElections Chair – Nominations: Michael McGuffin. Nominations closed.Michael: Throughout the year, everything that we’ve done we’ve done together, its not just me, it’s the whole exec board and you all. A lot of the successes come from teamwork. As chair I have broken rules, but I realized the wrongs I did and tried to learn from it and make myself better. I want to thank you all for keeping me in check and I would like to continue being chair next year. Q: between being a senior and preparing for graduation, how will you have time for this? A: This year I took 18 credits, and I was still able to get everything done. It may happen at the last minute but it does get done. I try to make sure I am available to help if it is needed. Closed questions. Discussion: Johnnie: Our leadership is only as good as our advisors, and we have great advisors. No More: I know Michael, we are in the same major – he may procrastinate but he does get everything done. He does a great job keeping everything in line. J&J: I think it is really important that he works on annunciation. Geology: What do the people that worked with him think? JT: Ive worked with 3 different club exec boards and Michael has done great, when I was chair we actually nominated him for this position. He is always willing to ask for help. He has gained a lot of experience. Student Vets: Everyone makes mistakes, this was his first year. He learned as he went, and now he has experience to make sure he doesn’t make the same mistakes. I think he has done a great job. Psychology club: He was honest about his mistakes, he actuallys knows what he did wrong and was able to admit it and talk about it.Voting: 40 yes, 2 no, 2 abstain. Michael voting in as chair for FY 16.Vice-Chair: Nominations: Geology nominates Johnnie Templeton, accepted. Nominations closed.Johnnie: New to CC this year, started a new club this year. Familiar with USUAA have been pro temp for Green Fee board, chair of sustainability, worked on legislation, have been very punctual in attending CC meetings. Currently works for DSS. Currently involved as a secret shopper, attended Model UN for the past 3 years and have won awards each year. Always approachable, involved in many aspects of UAA.Qs: Psychology club: What is your game plan for getting more community involvement? Ive been looking at UAA Life and the service hours. I haven’t seen many posted, I think CC should be involved with the community more so than any other group at UAA. I can create more opportunity for people to get service hours through the fair and the green fee proposal. TOR: Have you run for senator this past year? I did 2 years as a senator, and that was all I could handle as far as being a senator. I want to represent MCC and DSS more in CC. Glee: You have a pretty full plate, can you take on this commitment? My job is very flexible and are ok with me missing work in order to better the campus community. Closed questions.Discussion: No More: I see him around campus all the time and I think that is important, he would be good at representing CC. Physics: I feel like that is a faulty point, I see people around campus but I don’t see him – it depends on where you are. J&J: Simply being on campus isn’t always enough, but Johnnie is very approachable and always tries to get things done. Vets: I know a lot of people who know Johnnie and he is very well adored by a lot of people on campus and in the community. He would be able to bring more community engagement to CC. Super friendly guy. Anime: I do not know him, but from CC, my impression is that he is a very determined person and has UAA’s best interest in mind. Psychology: He is a pretty organized person from what I’ve heard about his work with Battle Crows. When I asked him about his vision for community service he not only had a plan but also noticed an issue that he wants to help fix. I think he would be a good fit. La Tertulia: Michael how do you feel about working with him? I’ve heard good and bad things, but none of the bad things have been verified so I will go off of what everyone here says. I think he will do good things and be a good asset to CC.Voting: 37 to 5. Johnnie voted in as VC for FY16.Business Manager: nominations: Battle Crows nominates: Accounting club rep. nomination declined. Michael nominates Sarah Holland of ASL club. Nomination accepted. Motion to close nominations. Sarah: CC rep for ASL club, step up as president of ASL club this year when the president resigned. Good with time management. Qs: Psychology: How do you feel about the workload? It will be a lot of work but I have planned big events before that have gone really well. Discussion: Cardinal Newman: She is very organized, really good problem solver, I have a great impression of Sarah. ASL: I agree Sarah came from having no experience to keeping ASL club together and putting on many great events for them. Voting: 37 to 1 to 1.
