BILL OF RIGHTS PORTFOLIO PROJECT

Objective: Students will analyze the importance of our Constitutional Bill of Rights by developing a portfolio based on Supreme Court cases, pictures, quotes, and opinions.

1. Select one of the Bills Of Rights (1-8) and create a portfolio.

2. Contents of Portfolio:

a. A title page

b. A Table of Contents

c. Description of your amendment

d. One Supreme Court cases that discusses your Amendment

1) background of case (what led to the case, what was the issue, who was involved)

2) the court’s decision

3) your opinion of the decision

4) All of this information must be typed

5) You must provide a copy of the supreme court cases

e. Obtain two (2) pictures, drawings, or political cartoons that deal with your amendment

f. Write a caption for EACH of the pictures, drawings, or political cartoons

g. Provide three (3) quotes about your amendment. The quotes can be about the amendment itself or someone discussing an issue, case, or incident that deals with the amendment. Please include who wrote or stated the quote.

h. Submit a one (1) page typed paper on your feelings or attitudes about the amendment. What does the amendment mean to you? Do we need the amendment? What are your opinions about some of the issues that the amendment has raised?

Guidelines:

3. The portfolio should be neatly placed in a folder.

4. The portfolio should be organized in the above order.

5. Will be graded favorably for creativity in your presentation
