Part 1 of the training is taught through an eLearning module and is hosted on the Edge. Part 2 of the Driver Safety Training Course takes place at the work site. It is driven by the Driver Safety Practical Applications eHub Checkpoint.
PART 1 ? Driver Safety Training (EDGE Module) To access part 1 of the training, go to
1. Under Browse, type Driver Training Program and then Search.
2. Click on the Driver Training Program course link to begin the training.
PART 2 ? Driver Safety Practical Application
Your Supervisor will prompt you to participate in completing part 2 of the certification process ? Driver Safety Practical Application.
2 ? DRIVER SAFETY TRAINING MANAGER/SUPERVISOR TRAINING COMPLETION INSTRUCTIONS
Account Managers will find the instructions on how to manage the completion the Driver Safety Training in the Driver Safety Training Policy on SharePoint. The policy has been attached to this CourseMill module as a Resource.
While the preferred method of documenting Practical Applications (Part 2) is through the eHub Checkpoint, for those supervisors/managers without eHub Checkpoint access, or the inability to receive licensing access, Part 2 may be conducted using the hardcopy Checklist.
The Checklist is available in the Training Materials section of the Training & Organizational Effectiveness page of SharePoint, and requires a manual entry into WinTeam to document completion.
Questions about gaining access to eHub Checkpoint should be sent to the AUS IT Department.
Please read the Driver Training Program policy fully to understand the training requirements.

TRAINING INSTRUCTIONS
With the current risk posed by COVID19, it is important to take precautions when performing the ride-along evaluations (practical application) required as part of the AUS Driver Safety Training. The instructor may choose to sit in the back seat. However, if a manager believes they can provide a useful assessment of the SPs driving skills from a fixed position outside of the vehicle, then due to temporary safety concerns, that exception can be made.
4 ? PRACTICAL APPLICATION FIELD TRAINING ? RIDE-ALONG REQUIRED EVERY 6 MONTHS
After the initial ride-along has been completed to certify the student to operate the security vehicle, additional ride-alongs are required to be performed every 6 months by a Supervisor or above for all employees working a driving post.
Please remember: Officer Safety is the primary concern at all times. Do not perform activities that are hazardous if these can be avoided or a safer alternative course of action is readily available.
