ALPHABIOGRAPHY



o What?: An alphabiography tells the stories of your life in 26 entries (one for each letter of the alphabet), with each entry focusing on a person, place, thing or event that is important to you.

o Who?: It’s all about YOU! You are both the writer and the main character.

o When?: A calendar of due dates will be given out. The final project is due _______________________.

o Where?: Some work will be done in the classroom; some must be done at home.

o Why?: The purpose of the assignment is to reflect on your life and tell the reader your story. Each entry will end with a short “Life Lesson,” something you believe in, something you have learned about life; possibly something you want to teach the reader or an explanation of why the person or event in the chapter is important to you. Also, you have read and will read several autobiographies, biographies, and memoirs of well know individuals. This is your turn to create your own biography!

o How?: You will write it in alphabetical order. Each chapter will have a title that begins with a new letter of the alphabet.

o Example: F could be for Family, Friends, Football, a Ford-150, etc.

o Example: B is for Basketball… Life Lesson = When you make a mistake, just shake it off. Don’t let it ruin whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish.

o Requirements:

o 24 Entries – There are 26 letters in the alphabet. You will write one chapter per letter. You may skip any TWO letters of the alphabet that you choose.

o One Page – Each entry receives its own 8 x 11 page.

o Length – Each entry must be a minimum of two paragraphs. (Honors students = three)

o Title – Each entry needs an appropriate title with the chosen letter displayed prominently.

o Neatness – Each entry must be typed or written neatly in ink.

o Picture – Each entry must have a picture or piece of art (on the page) that connects to the story.

o Presentation – The presentation of your project factors into your grade. The possibilities are endless… a bound book, plastic page covers, three-hole punched with string, stapled, binder, etc.
