Electronic and Information Technology Access Coordinator

The Institute on Disabilities is searching for a qualified candidate who can serve as Electronic and Information Technology Access Coordinator. The successful candidate will understand both policy and technological issues related to access to electronic and information technologies (including the internet) by persons with disabilities, and will be able to effectively communicate with individuals with and without technology expertise.

This position provides local, state, and regional technical assistance to individuals, agencies and organizations, especially education-based entities, regarding access to electronic and information technologies. Activities also include the coordination of all web-based information at the Institute on Disabilities; promotion of Section 508 policy and best practices; development and implementation of concept paper(s) and on-line services to enhance web access for individuals who utilize augmentative and alternative communication technology (AAC); liaison with related schools and departments within Temple University and other institutions of higher learning, including engineering and computer science; and supervision of graduate assistant(s).

Qualifications include at least a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, e-commerce or related field. Knowledge of Section 508 issues, computer access and other assistive technologies, and experience with persons with disabilities a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Some regional travel (Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, and statewide in Pennsylvania) will be required.
