Resilience is a term used to describe a person’s ability to recover or adapt to change easily, effectively and quickly.

Part 1: Complete the Survey

This is a survey for you to explore your level of resilience. Some statements will describe you better than others. There are no right or wrong answers. Read each statement and indicate how much it is like you using the following scale:

3. Who do you think is resilient? Explain why you would describe this person as being resilient.

An example is provided below:

The famous person who I think is resilient is the actor Keira Knightley. She is one of the actors in the movie, The Pirates of the Caribbean. I had no idea that she has a learning disability. Around the age of six she was diagnosed with dyslexia. She couldn’t read, write or name the letters of the alphabet. Both her parents were involved in the arts and noticed her interest in performing. She really wanted to become an actor and worked hard to achieve this. Her parents helped her and so did her tutors. The resiliency traits she shows are determination, getting support from others, and having a positive attitude even though she found learning at school hard. She also must have had confidence in herself since she kept trying and never gave up on her dream to become an actor.
