Installing OpenAFS Client on Windows

Get the current version of the AFS Client from this web address:



(Select either "32-bit Downloads" or "64-bit Downloads" depending on your version of Windows.

(For WindowsXP, you can select "32-bit EXE installer for individual installations", and for 64-bit versions of Windows select "64-bit MSI installer"

(Once you have downloaded the installer, double click to start installation.

(Select the button.

|If it does not come up, go to the start menu for All Programs and select OpenAFS - Client| |

|old AFS mapped drives, you need to disconnect them (you will reconnect later). For| |

(Click the button, and enter your drives as follows, substituting appropriate lab for drive U:, then press .

Be careful with the AFS path, do not omit the first period:

\afs\.afs1.vcru.wisc.edu\usr\simonlab

Installation is completed.

Uninstalling old version of AFS

This is from long ago, when the uninstall process for AFS Client 1.2.x was different.

This section is probably OBSOLETE!

(From the Windows Start button select Settings

then Control Panels

(Optional for neatness: A file named IBM will be left in your Program Files directory. This can be deleted, along with anything inside it.
