WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAWCAREER PLANNING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTTO:Class of 2015Class of 2016FROM:Terry EvansDATE:June 1, 2014RE: NORTHEAST INTERVIEW PROGRAM (NYC)Registration Open: June 1 – June 30We are delighted to announce our 14th annual Northeast Interview Program, a joint effort of W&L Law and William & Mary Law School. The program will take place Friday, August 8, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the AMA Executive Conference Center, 1601 Broadway (Times Square) in Manhattan. Employers interview second-year students for 2015 Summer positions, and third-year students for permanent positions. The application deadline is Monday, June 30th at 11:30 p.m.Interviewing Employers To research employers interviewing students in your class, go to the OCI tab within Symplicity and from the Session drop down menu select "2014 Northeast Interview Program." Review application details for each employer. ***Attendance Policy: One and You Go*** When students withdraw from the program after they were selected for an interview, this reflects poorly on participating schools and in some cases may cause an employer to withdraw from the program. This is of particular concern given the amount of resources OCP expends to attract employers to participate in our regional interview programs. Consequently, if you are selected for an interview (even one), you are obligated to attend the Program and to appear for every interview offered to you. Only in the rare case where a student is offered more than ten interviews in a day may a student elect to decline interviews in excess of ten. Please note that by applying to employers for this program, you are confirming that you understand and agree to this attendance policy which is also detailed in the OCP’s Policies. Once you have applied to this program, save Friday, August 8th (and any related travel time) on your calendar. Scheduling conflicts subsequent to your application to this program will not relieve you from your obligation to attend, nor will it mitigate any sanctions for non-compliance with this policy. You are responsible for all costs related to the interview program.Resume/Cover Letter Review Distinguish Yourself:? Submit perfect documents, tailored to the position you seek. Participating employers will receive one application packet with all candidates from participating schools. An effective resume and cover letter advocates the claim that you are a suitable and attractive candidate. Additionally, your written materials must reflect the level of accuracy and precision expected from a stellar associate. A member of our staff should review a revised draft of your resume and cover letter prior to its submission. We encourage you to schedule a resume and cover letter review with us, either in person by phone or e-mail. You may schedule an appointment by going to the Symplicity home page.Transcripts Employers often require transcripts and, unless otherwise indicated, an unofficial transcript is acceptable. If you have any questions concerning uploading your transcript or other documents to Symplicity, please contact Terry Evans (evanst@wlu.edu). Interview Selections and Scheduling An outside vendor creates the interview schedule for this program. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate scheduling preferences or requests for specific interview times.
