Message from the Finance Office

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles (ADLA) has significantly changed budgeting guidelines for the 2020-2021 school

year. To comply with the guidelines, each school¡¯s enrollment numbers must be based on ¡°actual students

registered¡± and not based on ¡°projected students to be registered¡±. This required change in budgeting has a direct

impact on accurately determining SJHS staffing levels for the 2020-2021 school year. Saint Joseph High School will

apply the conditions listed below for renewal of registration and tuition assistance. These changes have been

implemented in order to comply with the new budgeting requirements and to ensure we are planning responsibly

and accurately for next school year to reflect the total students actually registered.

Returning Student Registration - Only students who have completed Online Registration from

February 7 ¨C February 24, 2020, will be enrolled in their desired classes.

Failure to register during the February registration window will affect your daughter¡¯s ability to enroll

in her desired courses because students not registered on time, cannot enroll in courses. Students who

ARE REGISTERED ON TIME will be permitted to enroll in courses on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students who ARE NOT REGISTRERED ON TIME risk not being enrolled in their desired courses

because a course might be already full or cancelled due to low enrollment.

Tuition Assistance Renewal - Only students who have completed Online Registration from

February 7 ¨C February 24, 2020, will have tuition assistance reviewed for possible renewal.

If not registered during the February registration window, the student will be placed on a tuition

assistance waitlist until registered; tuition assistance for students who are registered late will be

released when funds, if any, become available. Please Note: Renewal of SJHS tuition assistance

applies to families who have submitted an application and supporting documentation to Smart Aid. The

family must apply and qualify for tuition assistance to receive it.

2020-2021 Registration

Registration deadline has been extended to 02/24/20. A $100 late fee will be applied after the deadline.

Jester Jubilee Gala and Committee

We are excited to start planning this year¡¯s Jester Jubilee, our annual gala to support the students of SJHS. Jester Jubilee

will be held on campus in the Flynn Center on April 4, 2020. The evening¡¯s festivities include live entertainment, dinner,

dancing, and silent and live auctions. We are looking forward to an evening full of fun and generosity from an amazing

faith community. If you would like to serve on the planning committee, please send an email to mgarrison@sj-.

The Five Sisters Theatre Company, featuring the amazing students of SJHS and SJB, presents the Broadway

Musical Newsies. This Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit inspires everyone to fight for what's right and

seize the day! Buy your tickets at jesterarts. for $15 + processing fee or for $15 at the ticket office before

each performance.

The Broadway Diner (aka Jester Caf¨¦) will open for dinner one hour before each performance. Enjoy burgers, fries,

brownie sundaes, along with other fun treats. *Lenten options will be available on Fridays. Bring your family and join your

friends at The Broadway Diner on campus.

CSF

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Tutoring: CSF students will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays

immediately for one hour after school to tutor students in all subjects. Tutoring on Mondays from 2:35 pm - 3:30 pm will be

held in the College Career Center classroom, and tutoring on Wednesdays from 2:35 pm - 3:30 pm will be held in the JLC.

Please encourage your daughter to take advantage of this free, drop-in tutoring, to either receive help completing

homework, reviewing for a quiz/test, or asking questions.

Bingo Is SJHS¡¯s Largest Ongoing Fundraiser ¨C Service Hours for Volunteering and/or Donations

The continued success of our Bingo program is due to the dedication of parent/guardian volunteers. Bingo is one of the

chief reasons we are able to continue to provide top-notch faith formation, academic and athletic programs, and extra- and

co-curricular activities for our students. If you are the parent/guardian of a student in grade 10, 11, or 12, you can earn

your service hours by volunteering on Wednesday evenings. Your help at this key fundraiser is a blessing to our students.

use donations of gift cards for our monthly drawings. Gift card(s) equaling $30 will count toward one volunteer service

hour. We appreciate your service and donations to benefit our students.

Message from the Dean ¨C Parking Permit Sticker Required

Any student who drives herself to school must have a parking permit sticker on her vehicle. Whether she parks in the main

student parking lot or Flynn parking lot, her vehicle must have a permit sticker. Cars without parking permit stickers will

be towed at the owner¡¯s expense.

Parent Service Hours - x2vol

Parents are responsible to submit a service claim form on x2vol for all service donations, events, meetings, etc. Before

calling the main office please refer to x2vol and confirm that hours have been approved and verified. In any case if there is

an error please contact Mr. Esparza or Ms. Cordova.
