|The main office is located in Chipping Norton. Travel from Chipping Norton to various outreach locations in South Western Sydney is required |

|Working Conditions |

|This is a full-time position for an initial 18 month contract |

|Some evening work is required |

|A current driver’s licence is essential in carrying out the duties of this position |

|Salary as per SCHADS Level 4 plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% |

|Attractive Salary Packaging is available |

|A probation period of 6 months will apply |

|Employees are responsible for obtaining a satisfactory Working with Children Check prior to commencement and maintaining its validity |

|The Youth and Community Outreach Worker’s purpose is to support the organisation’s vision through targeted strategies and outreach to at risk and/or |

|marginalised children and young people within the designated area in South Western Sydney. |

|The focus is to provide mobile outreach services to the targeted group within in their own environment with the aim of improving the young people’s |

|access to services and support initiatives, early intervention and prevention strategies, links to broader health, welfare, education, employment and |

|alcohol and other drugs (A&OD) service systems as well referrals to other Whitelion programs (where appropriate) |

| |Deliver the NOSH outreach service as per program design |

| |Ensure that the program is delivered in line with funding and service agreements and|

| |OFA/Whitelion’s expectations |

| |Recruit, train and supervise volunteer workers as appropriate with |

| |Provide quarterly progress reports on KPI’s |

| |Provide quarterly reports identifying trends, issues and outcomes |

| |Ensure that all data and service reporting requirements are met |

|To work collaboratively and ethically as part of a team | Meet with Outreach Team Leader on a regular basis and participate in monthly |

| |Promote and positively represent OFA/Whitelion interaction with the public |

| |Work in partnership with other OFA/Whitelion teams as required to provide a |

| |comprehensive service to the target group |

| |Liaise with and inform community partners about the NOSH Outreach Service and other |

| |OFA/Whitelion programs |

|Delivery of best practice case management services |Engage with the target group, assess need and develop and implement a case plan for |

| |individual clients as required |

| |Proactively link casual clients and young people with less intensive needs into |

| |service systems relevant to their needs |

| |Provide relevant support and assistance to young people to improve living skills |

| |with the objective of moving towards a healthier, safer and more positive lifestyle |

| |Encourage maximum client participation in the management of support and case |

| |planning |

| |Positively contribute to the case planning process by ensuring the participation of |

| |relevant stake holders |

| |Ensure that case notes, statistics and other client data is recorded as required and|

| |kept up to date |

| |Participate in regular evaluations of individual outcomes for the target group in |

| |supervision |

Requirements

|EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS |

|Tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience in the area of youth and family outreach work, case management and training programs. |

|SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE |

|Casework experience and knowledge of assessment and referral processes for young people with emphasis on family, individual functioning and |

|adolescent development |

|An understanding of the support needs of young people who maybe disengaged from the community, homeless or at risk of homelessness, and/or are |

|experiencing family breakdown and dysfunction |

|Outreach experience with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with young people who have high and complex needs and their families |

|The ability to engage and relate to people from a wide spectrum of the community |

|Demonstrated ability to respond to cultural diversity in casework practice |

|Mentoring experience with the ability to be non-judgemental and a positive role model |

|Counselling experience |

|Facilitation of groups and/or group work experience |

|The ability to maintain and establish new networks |

|The ability to work in partnership with young people, families, other agencies and services both government and non-government and the wider |

|community. |

|Well-developed interpersonal skills including mediation and conflict resolution skills |

|Ability to undertake all legislative and organisational requests, administrative tasks including maintaining appropriate client files and case notes |

|A current drivers licence |

|A current first aid certificate is required or assistance to obtain one will be provided |

|Computer literacy skills |
