JOB TITLE: Cafe Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Catering Manager

DATE PREPARED: March 2021

1 JOB PURPOSE

You will enjoy delivering high quality food and drink and providing an exceptional customer service. Duties will include; opening and closing procedures, using the till, meeting / greeting customers, preparing cold drinks, serving food items, stocking up and working alongside the catering manager to ensure a smooth service.

2 KEY RESULT AREAS

• Provide a great customer service, while engaging in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.

• Make sure the café seating area is clean and presentable. During service you will be responsible for the clearing, cleaning and resetting of tables.

• Serve cakes and food items to a consistently high standard.

• Provide customers with knowledge and detailed information on our menus, menu items & suppliers.

• Ensure the display counter and fridge are kept well stocked.

• Take customer orders while operating the till system, and mobile devices, processing credit card payments and handling cash.

• Follow checklists to maintain a clean and tidy appearance of the café before, during and after service.

• Adhere to all hygiene and safety procedures.

• Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Catering Manager.

5 BASIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• This is a permanent position working 21 hours a week on varying days, including weekends.

• There may be an occasional requirement for additional hours for which you will be paid your normal hourly rate.

• The hourly rate for this role is £8.91.

• Probationary period of 6 months.

• Notice period 1 week during probation.

• The place of work is The Hepworth Wakefield, Gallery Walk, Wakefield, WF1 5AW.

• 25 days annual leave per annum plus bank holidays (pro rata), rising by a day each year of service up to a maximum of 28 days. The leave year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
