Job Title: Assistant Chorus Manager

Department: Chorus

Status: Permanent, Full time (open to requests for flexible or part-time working)

Reports to: Chorus Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide effective, professional and reliable support to the Chorus Manager, and wider department and company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

• Responsible for permanent chorus when on duty for Chorus sessions

• Responsible for booking and acting as main point of contact for extra and additional chorus members including publicising opportunities, issuing contracts of engagement, ensuring all receive company policies during induction and complete required paperwork in accordance with finance and HR requirements

• Acting as a point of contact for departments, sifting and filtering issues to the Chorus Manager where appropriate along with background information

• Liaising with other ON departments including Marketing, Company Management, Wardrobe, Planning, Stage Management and HR relating to Chorus matters

• Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of monthly wage sheets and overtime records in line with Finance requirements

• Maintaining and cross-checking departmental records, including but not limited to; sign-in sheets, attendance databases, tour and travel subsistence rates, call sheets, roles and covers coaching, performance reports, working hours and contact details

• Drafting and distributing departmental communications, including but not limited to the Chorus schedule, memos, scores, and wage slips

• Ensuring documents are produced to a high standard of presentation, and proof-reading such papers,

• Maintaining, cross-checking and distributing the regular Chorus Schedule in liaison with the relevant departments

• Liaising with the Chorus Manager in the preparation of the long-term Chorus Schedule

• Attending performances on tour (current regular circuit of Newcastle, Salford and Nottingham,) one-off concerts, projects and education events, including setting up rooms for rehearsals

• Responsible for the RNCM Chorus mentor scheme and any other chorus education activity as appropriate

• Administering vocal reviews for the chorus, liaising with the Chorus Master and Chorus Manager and ensuring the Director of Orchestra and Chorus is kept informed

• Ensuring the security, safety, maintenance and archiving of Chorus office files in line with data protection requirements

• Meeting and greeting external guests, ensuring that a positive and professional image in maintained at all times

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary: c. £24,000 per annum

Hours of work: Full-time applicants are paid for 35 hours per week, and by default work from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., Mon-Fri with an hour unpaid for lunch. However, the post involves evening and weekend work during the company year in order to facilitate the Chorus Schedule

Type of contract: Permanent, full- time, but open to requests for flexible or part-time working.

Normal place of work: Opera North, Leeds City Centre

Holiday entitlement: 33 days inclusive of 8 statutory holidays per year for full-time work.

Pension: Opera North will automatically enrol you into the company pension scheme upon appointment and after 3 months’ service will contribute equivalent to 5.5% of your basic pay, should you meet the current legislative criteria. You will be required to make a personal contribution of 2.5% of your basic pay. We reserve the right to make future changes to our pension arrangements.
