Position Summary:

You will be accountable to the Service Manager, Youth Services for the efficient and affective service towards Service Users within the established guidelines and budget.

Work in the community to develop and enhance appropriate service for young people and people with disabilities. Participate in the development of innovation and partnerships with other services and the community.

The Worker will have an understanding of the program guidelines, legal requirements and current philosophical and cultural aspects of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

|Functional Responsibilities |Support Service Users and families where necessary. |

| |Build, consolidate and enhance support options for Service Users in relation to planning and coordination. |

| |Negotiate access to appropriate services utilising lateral thinking and creative problem solving where |

| |necessary. |

| |Liaise and collaborate with a range of service providers community, disability and youth specific. |

| |Monitor Service User budgets where necessary, maintain accurate case notes and prepare thorough written |

| |reports and funding applications. |

| |Ensure that the standards required by relevant regulations and law are maintained; |

| |Participate in the collection of Quarterly Data statistics and other relevant reporting requirements. |

| |Advocate on behalf of Service Users to support their rights. |

| |Be aware of and comply with Occupational Health and Safety systems and processes. Use safe manual handling |

| |principles in work undertaken for the role. |

| |Be aware of and comply with organisation’s quality policies and procedures. |

| |Be aware of and comply with all road traffic legislation and follow safe driving preparation & practice |

| |when driving a vehicle on behalf of MOIRA. |

| |Be aware of and remain up-to-date with the vision, values and code of conduct of MOIRA and function & |

| |behave within and in accordance with these documents. |

| |All roles at MOIRA are presumed to include what is, in the opinion of management, a reasonable degree of |

Reporting Relationships:

The person reports directly to the Service Manager.

Where the line manager for this role is replaced or altered, this position will automatically and immediately report to that/those new roles, as will be advised by the release of an updated organisation chart and/or an alternate form of communication of the change to the employee.

The person will display extensive knowledge of contemporary best practice according to Regulatory and Act requirements and the National Quality Framework.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

|Qualifications |The person will have capability in working with young people, people with disabilities, their families and|

| |carers. Posses qualifications (minimum certificate) and experience in a relevant Human Services field. |

|Knowledge & Skills |The position requires professional knowledge in the following areas: |

| | |

| |Extensive capability working in the community sector |

| |Knowledge of or capability working in the youth/disability sector and relevant legislation processes and |

| |procedures Including the Disability Act 2006 |

| |Awareness and appreciation of current prevailing philosophies and trends in the area of Youth and |

| |disability services. |

| |Knowledge and capability managing case loads |

| |Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to initiate and maintain contacts |

| |with a broad range of service providers. |

| |A current Victorian drivers license |

| |Sound computer skills including Microsoft office products. |

| |A paid Working With Children Check (WWCC) with MOIRA added as a notified organisation for the duration of |

| |employment |

| |Foreign Nationals applying for a position with MOIRA must be able to produce a current valid International|

| |Police Check and working visa. |
