Greater Melbourne RegionalClimate Change Adaptation Strategy Consultation summary report following the Discussion Paper consultation on Engage Victoria. Thank you for your feedback! This is a summary of what you told us during the engagement period from 7 November to 14 December 2020.Who visited the site? The Engage Victoria site counted 2,475 individual visitors to the site and captured 329 pieces of feedback. Most people provided their feedback about three days after the site went live. What you told us on the Values map:We received 237 contributions to the values map.The infographic on the next page summarises what you told us that you value, and what you are most concerned about.HOW YOU ANSWERED THE ‘HAVE YOUR SAY’ QUESTIONS:We received 88 contributions to the survey questions (plus a number of individual written submissions). Most of the contributions came from individuals. The rest were from associations, governments or government authorities and community groups. We did not receive submissions marked as being from industry, the private sector (corporate) or from small to medium enterprises. To address this we will engage with members of industry and the private sector through other channels and find ways to engage with small businesses. The infographic below summarises the responses we received for the values map and the questions. What’s next:Our Stakeholder Committee will use the outputs of projects we’ve been delivering and the information and concerns raised by you through Engage Victoria to refine areas of emphasis for the strategy. We will build on the themes tested in the Discussion Paper and additional ideas that arise from engagement and projects. These areas of emphasis will become the key areas to keep working on for the five years of the strategy. Feedback to date from you and additional targeted consultation show that the emerging areas of emphasis could include:A stronger focus on protection of the natural environmentA strong role for the sharing of authentic stories of adaptation (through a variety of media)The importance of resilient infrastructure, urban renewal and greeningStrengthened support for community groups and hubsThe importance of clear leadership at all levelsThe importance of clear governance arrangementsA strong role for planning and technologyA desire for a separate agency focussed on climate change in VictoriaCentralised information and resources The Stakeholder Committee will run a series of sessions with key bodies and groups to refine, evaluate and test the actions, and then begin drafting the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for Greater Melbourne. We plan to share the draft with you in April 2021 before finalising it in June 2021.□For further information, to sign up to our climate change newsletter, or to send us your ideas, email climatechangemelbourne@delwp..au ................
