CNA

A certified nursing assistant, or CNA, helps patients or clients with health care needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Most programs to become a CNA last about 1-3 months. State-approved programs are recommended.

Projected

The employment rate of CNAs is projected to grow 9% between 2018-2028, creating a total of 135,400 new jobs.1

growth for

The median annual wage for CNAs was $28,540 in 2018. The highest wage

CNAs: 1.5 million

was more than $39,460.2

CNAs do not require a post-secondary degree and are in one of the highest paid industries in America. 1

in 2018 to 1.65 million in 2028.2

There is a high replacement rate for CNAs because many aides leave the occupation to attend training programs for other health care occupations. Therefore people who are interested in, and suited for, this work should have excellent job opportunities.
