AMENDMENT PROJECT
AMENDMENT PROJECT Assigned: Wednesday January 9th, 2014
This project is designed to help all students get a better understanding of the 27 Amendments to the United States Constitution.
1. You will be assigned an Amendment…it will be a drawing!
2. You will PASTE the Amendment on the top of your poster board.
Example:
1st Amendment: Religious and Political Freedom (1791)
You will then HANDWRITE what right(s) are protected by the Amendment on the back of your poster board:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peacefully to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
***Please note that even if you are given only part of an Amendment to illustrate, you are still required to completely write out the Amendment.
3. You will then illustrate (draw) the Amendment, or part, of the Amendment.
a. Since some Amendments have more “items”, some will be broken into parts.
4. Requirements:
a. BLACK pen/marker must be used to write the Amendment.
i. You cannot type or use a computer unless special permission is granted
b. The illustration must be in color
i. You cannot use pictures, photos, or anything printed from a computer
ii. You must create this illustration on your own!
c. Poster board must be at least 11 x 18, no bigger than 18 x 24
d. You will present your poster and then explain your amendment. The students (Mr. Green will count as a student) will have the opportunity ask you 1-2 questions about your amendment…be prepared to answer these questions.
5. Project will be graded on the following:
a. Neat and presentable (5 points)
b. Following directions
Drawing in color (5 points)
Amendment written on back, in ink, and readable (5 points)
c. Understanding…does your drawing represent your amendment? (5 points)
d. Presentation (5 points)…eye contact, inflection, fluidity, explaining your amendment, answering any questions, etc. (5 points)
e. Dress on day of presentation (5 points)
f. Total points available: 35 points
6. Project due Monday January 27th, 2014 through Thursday January 30th, 2014
