Timothy A. Miller, M.D.
Plastic Surgery Research
Dr. Miller is currently the Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Wadsworth VA Hospital.
Dr. Miller’s expertise is in the areas of aesthetic surgery, as well as reconstructive surgery, including burn surgery. He is one of the world's experts on lymphedema.
Dr. Miller’s laboratory focuses on bone tissue engineering, specifically the creation of biosynthetic bone grafts. The animal model used by Dr. Miller’s laboratory is the rabbit cranial defect.
Dr. Miller was the recipient of the Ralph Goldman Research Award in 1996 for “Passage-Dependent Loss of Osteoblast Function but not Proliferation Markers in MC3T3-E1 Cells”. He received the Ralph Goldman Research Award a second time in 1999 for the “Effect of Retinoid on Connexin 43 Expression in Squamous Cell Carcinoma”. In addition, he has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications.
