RUTH M. MORGAN, M.D., M.S.
|Ruth Morgan, MD, M.S. is a licensed Family Medicine Physician. She is presently employed with the Center for Health Care Service and oversees |
|Project H.E.A.L.T.H. (Homeless Engagement Addressing Limitations To Healthcare) in the Courtyard Integrated Clinic within Haven for Hope. The |
|project was originally the result of a three-year Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) grant awarded to The Center for Health Care |
|Services to provide integrated medical care for homeless individuals residing at the Haven for Hope shelter in the City of San Antonio. The |
|clinic has also received an 1115 Waiver extending primary care to individuals who are not otherwise Medicaid or CHIP eligible. The goals of the|
|program are to use innovated service delivery systems to meet the triple aims: improving the experience of care, improving the health of |
|populations, and reducing per capita costs of health care. |
|She is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. Dr. Morgan was born and raised |
|in Memphis, TN. She received her A.B. from Dartmouth College, M.S. in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University, and |
|Postbaccularate Certificate from Bryn Mawr College. |
|She received her medical degree with a distinction in bioethics from Albany Medical College. While at Albany Medical College, she was awarded |
|a SNMA’s David Satcher, MD, PhD Fellowship, one of five medical students nationally to receive this honor, to conduct a multidisciplinary |
|childhood obesity intervention research program. She was elected to the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Frank Maxon, Jr., MD |
|Medical Student Alumni Award presented to the senior student of outstanding personal, academic and professional qualities. |
|She completed her residency at the Scripps Family Medicine Residency in Chula Vista, CA. While in residency, she participated in UC San Diego |
|School of Medicine’s Faculty Development Program: “Addressing the Health Needs of the Underserved”. In addition, she also completed the |
|University of Arizona School of Medicine Integrative Medicine in Residency (IMR) program. She was recognized at her residency graduation with |
|the “Going the Extra Mile” Award. |
|She is passionate about community medicine, working with the underinsured and global health. She has participated in medical mission trips and |
|education in Fiji, China, and Uganda. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Society. Most recently, she was selected to serve on the Bexar |
|County Ryan White Program Quality Management (QM) Committee in San Antonio, TX. |
