Question: What Iranian companies have interests/ownership ...

Please estimate the amount of time needed for each of these questions, the resources to fill them (who can work on this?). We need to keep client’s name out of this and make it first a research/monitoring question, then after we’ve exhausted the available information we can take it to Stick’s team to fill in the blanks. We may have some of this information from our drilling and shipping sweeps plus each AOR involved may have some info already at hand. Need to check with our heads for Iran, Sudan, Russia, China. India.

Question 1-

As context, American companies are prohibited from doing business with any entity that is 50 percent owned by an Iranian or Iranian company.

The following questions have been posed by a client’s compliance officer in order to help them identify Iranian companies and subsidiaries they should avoid doing business with. Also, below is a list pulled up from the Iran oil and gas companies, which gives us a starting place while waiting for a complete list from the client. In order to identify which companies Americans should not be doing business with, we need to see which of the companies below are:

1) operating outside of Iran

2) of those, identify which are affiliated with or involved in partnerships, joint ventures, subsidiaries, etc. with non-Iranian companies and cite the name of those partnership businesses.

3) Identify what percentage of each partnership, joint venture, subsidiary, etc. identified in step 2 is Iranian owned.

Note- We should look at Russian and Chinese deals as they are more likely to partner with Iranians. But, as an example, we know that BP has partnered with Iran in at least one field.

Question 2-

Identify which Chinese and Indian energy companies do business in Iran and Sudan. Can we find out how many rigs China and India have drilling in Iran and Susan? (KZ-Do they only care about the state-owned Chinese and Indian companies and therefore are asking how many rigs India and China have in the country or do want to know how many each Indian and Chinese company has?) Is the number in Iran and Sudan under 50% of the total number of rigs the Chinese and Indians own? (She mentioned ONGC as being one Indian company they know of.)

Question 3-

Can we find the names of all the rigs that are in Iran and Sudan. Offshore rigs are fairly easy and they have a start on that list, but mobile rigs and onshore rigs are harder to find.[pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic][pic]
