AFP Author Credentialing FormWe have found it best for all concerned if our authors are experienced clinicians familiar with critically reviewing and analyzing the medical literature, and experienced with the medical publishing process. We ask potential authors to indicate their experience with publishing articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, and with the principles of evidence-based medicine. AUTHORSHIP POLICY: We do not permit medical or other students to serve as authors, and we require that resident physicians, if involved with the manuscript, work with an experienced attending physician who will serve as first and corresponding author. Per our authorship policy, the author originally assigned to a topic should remain lead/corresponding author through completion of the article. Please keep in mind that we do not allow more than 3 authors on an article. CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY: Our conflict of interest policy precludes us from considering manuscripts written by an author who has a financial relationship with any commercial entity that may have an interest in the subject matter of the article within the previous 36 months. This includes serving on a speaker’s bureau or advisory board, or receiving research support related to the subject matter of the article, as well as other relationships detailed in our conflict of interest policy: in serving as a reviewer?
