The School

Oryx International School is owned by Qatar Airways and managed by Orbital Education. Orbital Education own and operate a growing group of international schools across the globe that cater for students between the ages of 3 and 18 years, specializing in delivering the English National Curriculum, enhanced to meet the needs of an internationally diverse student population.

The school is for the children of the employees and of Qatar Airways. This is our first full year of operation and there are plans to construct a new school for 2018/2019. This will be an all through school with a capacity for over 2000 students.

Overview.

It is a truly British International School with students coming from over 32 different countries and the teachers are all UK trained with experience of the teaching the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Support and Administration Staff represent 9 different countries

The School Day

Our school day is in 3 parts and is designed with the following considerations:

Planning, preparation and assessment time 10 -12.5% of the teaching week.

180 teaching days, 5 training days and 2 days induction for new teachers.

Start of term Teaching Assistants Attire

Teachers need to be in Qatar 24 hours before the start of term.

One TA per class in FS and KS1. One TA per class in KS2.

You need to wear smart, business clothes at all times in school.

For men this includes tailored shirts, trousers and a tie. You will also need to wear a jacket for various occasions.

Women can wear trousers, knee length skirts or dresses. Tops need to cover the shoulders and top part of your arm and up to your neck.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits are very competitive and will allow you to live a very comfortable life in Doha, provide opportunities to travel and save for the future. Details will be shared with short listed applicants.

Salary

Tax free and more than teacher's salary in England and Wales.

Gratuity

Approximately 3 weeks of basic salary for every year worked, paid at the end of contract.

Housing

Free, fully furnished, single accommodation.

Leave

Leave to be taken during the school holidays.

Health Insurance

For Qatar and other GCC countries (not dental).

Travel

Annual return flights or cash equivalent to home country.

Job Offer

If you are offered a position with us, we will guide you through the process of getting here in one piece as stress free as possible. Once offered a position, the Business Manager will be in contact and will let you know what is required in order for us to apply for a Resident Permit for you. We will guide and support you through the whole process of moving from your current country to your arrival here in Doha.

We will ask you to arrive in Doha for the end of August and we can either book your flight for you or reimburse you once you arrive. We will pick you up from the airport and take you to your apartment which will be fully furnished, including bedding, cutlery and crockery. There will also be some groceries to get you started.

We will pick you up the next day and take you to school where we will give you a tour and go through health and safety procedures. We will also take your attested documents to begin your residency process. It is vital you bring everything in the way we have asked. You will also need to undergo a health check for TB and Hepatitis C.
